My Opinion

I thank GOD every day that I am an American. You might think I’m being obnoxious, but there in lies the beauty of being an American. I believe in the right for you to have that opinion. I believe in it so much that I have spent the last twenty years in the service of the greatest country in the world. I see on the news every day the war protestors throughout the world and I think to myself how wonderful it must be to live inside their naive, simple little minds. If you truly believe that countries like Iraq, Iran, China, North Korea,….. pose no threat to our way of life, then you are truly living in fantasyland. If you think that we are preparing to go to war over oil, well lets think about that one. Oil prices had been very stable untill lately. If we just wanted cheap oil prices we would have supported the lifting of sanctions against Iraq. Trust me folks, it ain’t about oil. If you feel sorry for the poor suffering people of Iraq, then God bless you. With any luck they will be liberated soon, and hopefully from within. America is not causing the suffering of millions, contrary to what some may have you believe. The money for medical supplies and food for the starving masses is being used to support the weapons programs implemented by a ruthless regime that must be stopped. When was the last time you saw a malnutrition Iraqi spokesman. On the way home Saturday I saw around 200 people standing on an overpass on I-5. They were waving American flags and holding signs supporting our troops. That night on the news I watches all the coverage on the anti-war demonstrations. I must have missed the report about the people I had seen earlier that day. My father was spit on when he returned from Vietnam. He couldn’t get a taxicab to take him home. He never held a grudge. He told me once that everyone has the right to voice their opinions and that it was part of his job to ensure they would always have that right, no matter how ungrateful they may be. If you do not support the policies of the current administration, that’s ok. If you do not support the men and women that defend democracy, then GO TO HELL. In my twenty years I have watched men, women and children die. I know the smell of death and the sobering effect of recovering fallen comrades. I, like thousands of others, don’t do this job for the great pay, or because is so much dam fun. I do it because I feel it’s my duty. If you don’t want to go to war, that’s fine. If you don’t like the president, ok. If you disrespect the men and women in uniform, both past and present. Spend your free time protesting the military. Carrying banners bad mouthing this country. Or supporting countries that pose a threat to America, its true allies or freedom in general MOVE TO FRANCE. If you don’t care for my opinion then you can leave this site, start your own site and post your own opinion. After all that’s what being an American is all about.
