A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Eric Bischoff is also a black-belt martial artist. He began his career as an announcer for Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association (AWA). Eventually, he moved on to WCW to work as an announcer. When the top job there opened up in 1993, Bischoff lobbied hard for and won the right to run the organization.
Ted Turner hired him as company president, and the Bischoff era began. By 1995, Bischoff began to lure some of the top stars of WWE to WCW. He hatched the idea for the revolutionary New World Order (nWo) with former WWE Superstars Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hollywood Hogan. Bolstered by the popular faction, WCW’s Monday Nitro beat Monday Night RAW in the ratings war 83 weeks in a row. WWE soon fought back with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and D-Generation X, and soon overtook the competition from Atlanta. Eventually, Bischoff left the organization, and WWE subsumed its former rival.
Bischoff was once Johnny Bank's manager, but because of his constant disappointments to Johnny he was releaved of his duties. Bischoff now wants to get revenge on Johnny in any way, shape, or form.
