Six Flags Great America Trip Report Last Blast 2002

Six Flags Great America Last Blast 11/03/2002
Today was the final day that Six Flags Great America was open for the 2002 season. How depressing is that? It was a great day though and I am wiped out from it (in a good way).
Left for the park at 12:30pm today. The forecast said it was supposed to be cold and rainy but luckily that was not the case today. Arrived at the park by 1:00pm after getting through the parking entrance where everyone took forever cuz they were asking stupid questions. Got to the parking lot and it was pretty empty, how cool is that? Parked in section 21.
I noticed that Shockwave is almost completely taken down. All that remained from where I was looking were the supports for the first hill, a bit of the top section of the track and the first loop. All of the Frightfest remains were taken down and changed. The decorations were all gone, as well as the Halloween music. On top of that all the red water in the front fountain, V2/Ice Mountain splash area were changed back to aqua. How did they do all this in just one week??!!
Decided to do something new and take the clockwise route around the park this time. The New Orleans area was practically deserted, you could've heard a pin drop. Debated getting on Condor, but I remember getting "wierded out" the last time on it thinking that one of the cars may detatch and go crashing to the ground. I'm sure it is safe but it doesn't look like there is much holding the cars on.
Headed through the "ride graveyard" (RIP: Power Dive, Cajun Cliffhanger, and East River Crawler) to Batman. There was no line for this so I went on it 3 times, in a row, before the station started filling up.
Went on Vertical Velocity next and went on this 4 times in a row since this one didn't have a line either. Riding near the front is wicked on the second launch since it looks like you are about to fly off the twisted tower. When I was looking down on the twisted tower, I saw track pieces for the new coaster.
Walked past the Iron Wolf as always.........and went on the Fiddlers Fling. This ride is Kewl!!!
Headed to the American Eagle next and rode it 3 times, and even though there was no line, we had to go through the long line queue each time to ride again. Disappointed that the trim brakes on the helix are back, why oh why did they do that?
Went on Deja Vu next, the first ride of the day that had a line, only took about 20 mins though. This is a fun ride but I am not that crazy about going backwards through the bat-wing since I always bang my head.
Rode on the Demon next, another line AND they were only running one train so it was a good 20min wait.
Went on Giant Drop next, short wait but for some reason it was not as scary as usual.
Headed to Raging Bull next, which is still my fave ride and rode in the back seat, the best seat on there!!
Went to Viper next, which I love, but don't ride often and realized why today. I am so sick of all the chaos in the ride station and the fact that there is always a mob of people in there and you can't tell who is waiting for what row. I rode in the back and it was about a 45 min wait since they were only running one train and also since all the handicapped people coming through the exit chose the back seat. I had a fun time on it when I eventually rode it.
Headed to the "teacup" ride next (I forgot the name of it and didn't see a sign for the ride). I remember going on this last year during Frightfest and they had the windows blocked out, strobe lights and looped the song: Sandstorm.
Went back to Raging Bull and rode at least 6 or seven times(I lost track of how many times). Went on Giant Drop 2 more times and came back to Raging Bull again and rode it a few more times.
Headed home in heavy traffic but was glad that I had an awesome time on the last open day of the season.
