FRIGHT TIME

The Sixth Sense (1999)

Simply the scariest movie I have seen since Psycho. The mood is perfect, the score is excellent, the suspense is brilliantly played, and the shocks are effective. The story focuses around a boy, Cole, who is considered a freak by his peers. Bruce Willis is the child psychologist who helps him. Cole has problems much greater than schoolyard bullies, though... The movie doesn't show us exactly what's going on at first, and even if you do know Cole's secret, the tension is so well-built that our discovery is still a major knock. This movie had me clinging, by the very tips of my fingers, to the well-known edge-of-my-seat. Are there problems? Yes, there are some minor plot holes concerning the bizarre and completely surprising ending (which I will not give up, for any reason), but you don't even think of them until after you've stopped watching. This is a definite 100% must-see.
