The chaos around the building was unbelievable as they pulled up. Police and FBI jackets littered the area as her eyes darted this way and that.

Till they landed on ambulances…

Before the car was stopped, she opened the passenger door, not caring about herself. She needed to see him… to hold him… to find out if he was ok. She had waited long enough. Being without him caused sharp pains in her heart… She wouldn’t last without him. She needed to find him.

Her feet hit the ground and she took off running.

“Delana! Wait!” she heard behind her. She couldn’t wait. It had been 5 days without him, worrying about him, dreaming about him. She had to see his smiling face again.

She made her way into the horribly lit building, weaving in and out of workers. She still heard her name being called from behind her but ignored it.

Finally her feet brought her to “The room”. She stopped… she tried to listen… to listen for his voice… but there was nothing resembling it. Just the voices of police and paramedics. She shut her eyes, afraid to look in. She was afraid of what she’d find.

She felt a hand grab her shoulder from behind. She knew who it was and was so glad he was here right now to help her.

“De… come back outside.”

“I need to see him.”

“You will… just not now.”

“No Jr.… I have to.”

She turned around to look in Dale Jr’s sparkling blue eyes. She had to let him know she was serious. That she meant business. After a few seconds Jr. broke the gaze looking down at his feet.

“Fine… I’ll be right here ok?”

Delana turned around and shut her eyes again before rounding the corner into the room. What she found behind it would haunt her for the rest of her days. She could never have been ready for this.

“Hold him down! Keep him still!”

“What’s his pulse?”

“His eyes are rolling back!”

Delana Harvick stood in the doorway watching her husband thrash around in front of her. His eyes were open slightly only allowing white to show through. He was shaking uncontrollably… like he was having a seizure. Saliva covered his mouth and chin.

The young blonde’s hands went to her mouth as she swallowed back the bile that was threatening to come out. Hot tears streamed down her face as she watched her husband, her best friend…

“Oh shit…”

Delana turned around and crashed into Dale Jr. Burying her face in his sweater as Jr. looked on across the room at his friend.

“What did they do to him?” she sobbed hysterically.
