If you are into rock crawling or even moderate 4wheeling, you will have to air down your tires sometimes. When you are back on the pavement, you need to inflate the tires. There are 2 major trends: onboard air or CO2 cylinders. I opted for onboard air since it was cheaper.
I purchased a 11 gallons air tank from Kragen ($30) and different adapters, couplings, and air filter from OSH and Home Depot. I also purchased a 28 volts compressor from the Surplus Center.
C303 has a battery warming circuit. On my truck, the heating element was missing. I used this circuit to wire the onboard air. This way I had a locking switch that would work only when the engine is running, a 24 volts relay, and wires. I just needed to connect the air compressor. I will also create a diagram of the circuit.
Here are some pictures of my compressor + air tank configuration.
The tank is sitting on top of the engine cover.
The compressor is mounted behind the driver's seat.
