HEAT 8 NSW SLALOM SERIES

Jimmy’s Beach – Hawks Nest – Port Stephens

 

VENUE – Jimmy’s Beach – Hawks Nest – Port Stephens.

DATE – 23-24 February, 2002.

ORGANISING AUTHORITY - The NSW Boardsailing Assoc. Inc.

RULES - This regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2001-2004 and the Prescriptions and Safety Regulations of the AYF except where any of those are amended by this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions for this event or Notices to competitors.

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER - Entry is open to current financial members of Sailboard Clubs or Class Associations affiliated with the NSW Boardsailing Association.

PROGRAM - (Subject to wind conditions)

The Race Committee will be the sole judge as to the minimum wind strength required for racing.

SCORING – The low point scoring system in accordance with Appendix A will apply. Three races (whole of fleet) or one complete Table of slalom races must be completed to constitute a Series Heat. Competitors will be allocated into slalom heats by random selection, if required. It is intended to sail as many races as time and weather permit.

COURSES - Subject to conditions, course racing or downwind 'M' or Figure '8' style courses will be used.

 

 

EQUIPMENT – No limitation on equipment except that the board must not have a centreboard and that no part of any skeg is to be more than 700mm from the stern when measured along the underside of the board.

SAIL NUMBERS - All competitors shall have unique sail identification of minimum size 250mm in height. Sail numbers registered with the AWA will be given preference. Other sail numbers may be chosen at the event.

ENTRY FEE - $15. Entries will be accepted on the day of the event.

PRIZES - Trophies may be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.

SAFETY - All those taking part in this regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility. The organising authority is not responsible for the seaworthiness of a board whose entry has been accepted nor for the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment. It is the sole responsibility of each competitor to decide whether or not to start or to continue to race. A competitor whilst racing who fails to wear as intended a buoyancy vest or harness complying with AS1499 or one which is approved by the Race Committee will be ranked as a non-starter; (amends Rule 40). Clothing or equipment which is designed to, or can be used to, increase a competitor's body weight shall not be used.
