NOTICE OF RACE

for

NSW

FORMULA WINDSURFING

CHAMPIONSHIPS

23-24 MARCH, 2002.

1. DATE, VENUE & ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The NSW State Formula Windsurfing Championships will be off the beach at Cook Park, corner of Alice St and The Grand Parade, Dolls Point Botany Bay from the 23-24 March, 2002. The Organising Authority for this Championship is the NSW Boardsailing Association Inc.

2. RULES

This Championship will be governed by the ISAF Funboard Racing Rules 2000 (FRR), this Notice of Race except where either is altered by the Sailing Instructions and the Sailing Instructions. Where there is conflict, the Sailing Instructions will take precedence

3. ADVERTISING

In accordance with FRR Appendix U2, rule 9, this Championship is classified as a category C event in accordance with the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2001-2004, rule 79 and Appendix 1 (amends FRR 79).

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

All competitors shall comply with FRR 75. For the purpose FRR 75.1(a), a national authority or a national windsurfing association is the Australian Windsurfing Association Inc.

5. ENTRY FEES>

An entry fee of $25.00 or in the case of a Youth or Junior competitor, $20.00, will be payable at the time of Registration.

6. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

6.1 Registration and Sailing Instructions

Competitor registration and equipment checking will be conducted at Cook Park, corner of Alice St and The Grand Parade, Dolls Point Botany Bay in accordance with the Event Schedule.

Sailing Instructions will be issued to each competitor at the time of registration.

6.2 Event Schedule (Subject to wind conditions)

23 Mar Registration and equipment checking 0900 - 1100 hrs

Racing 1130 hrs

24 Mar Racing 1000 hrs

Presentation At completion of racing.

7. EQUIPMENT

FRR Appendix U2 is amended as follows:-

a) Rule 2.3.3 Add - 'The use of boards other than Series Production boards registered with the ISAF is permitted.'

b) Rule 3.1.1 Add - 'A maximum of three skegs may be registered for use during this Championship. No skeg shall project more than 700mm below the hull measured at 90 degrees to the fairline underside of the hull and only one skeg shall be used during a race.'

 c) Add new rule 6.5 - 'The minimum weight of the board in a clean wet state complete with footstraps and fin, without the deckplate or mastbase, shall be 8.5 kgs. After equipment checking, the number and type of footstraps shall not be altered.'

8. RACING AREA

The Racing Area will be as detailed in the Sailing Instructions.

9. COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be detailed in the Sailing Instructions and will generally be windward/leeward configuration.

10. SCORING SYSTEM

FRR Appendix A - Scoring will apply where relevant. It is intended to sail as many races as time and weather conditions permit.

11. SAIL NUMBERS

Sail numbers shall be in accordance with FRR and Appendix H or as approved by the Race Committee. In the event of a duplication, sail numbers registered with the Australian Windsurfing Association Inc. will be given preference for use.

12. BUOYANCY

All competitors whilst racing shall wear personal flotation devices in accordance with FRR Appendix U2, rule 8. Attention is drawn to Fundamental Rule 4.

13. PRIZES

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall placegetters and to the first finishing women, junior, youth and master. (Junior - has not turned 16 years of age as at the 23.3.02, Youth - has not turned 19 years of age as at the 23.3.02, Master - has turned 35 years of age as at the 23.3.02).

14. ENTRY DISCLAIMER

It is the competitor’s decision to enter the Event or to start and continue in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in the Event is at their exclusive risk in every respect. By way of entry in the Event competitors shall indemnify the Organising Authority , their officers, members, servants and agents in respect to all claims and demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in connection with or howsoever arising form their participation or intended participation in the Event.

The Organising Authority , their officers, members, servants and agents accept no responsibility in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of their participation or intended participation in the Event or howsoever arising in connection with the Event.
