WSBL HEADLINES

A-Rod dealt to Queens

Today will go down in New York History. This is the biggest deal in New York history..and it happened to be between both New York teams. Today the New York Mets agreed to send their most prized prospect David Wright, along with AAA prospects Victor Diaz, and Jeff Keppinger to the crosstown Yankees for the richest player in baseball history..Alex Rodriguez. With the WSBL inposing a $120 million payroll, the Yankees at $207 million are in dire need of cutting salary, but not talent..as winning is a must in New York. Alex's big contract follows him to New York where he will likely hit cleanup behind Carlos Beltran, the Mets other $100 million+ man. The Yankees save money and keep talent with Wright..who is expected to be one of the best 3rd basemen in baseball..getting some comparisons to Scott Rolen of the St. Louis Cardinals. Overall this deal benefited both teams, the Mets who were more willing to take on contracts, took on Alex's record contract. The Yankees who needed to cut payroll did quite well by acquiring a player of Wright's talent along with who will be a couple good roleplayers in Diaz and Keppinger. We asked Mets GM Joe DeMayo his reasoning behind the deal. "When you can get a player like Alex Rodriguez, sometime you have to deal a couple of the young guys. Alex Rodriguez is in my opinion the best hitter in the game today, and he is going to be a big piece of the propellar sending the Mets into superiority in the National League. We are very happy to have Alex here for the next few years." The Yankees General Manager was unavailable for comment, but once we get some from him..we'll inform you.
