Rear Brakes and Suspension

Rear Brakes

Here is the rear brake setup. It consists of early model 200B calipers (off the strut with the 253mm rotor) and 260Z front rotors. Brake pads are Black Flash. They required a bracket to be fabricated, which was done by Brian at Neal Bates Automotive. There is no capacity for a cable handbrake with this setup, although the car does have a hydraulic handbrake.

Rear Cross Member

The rear cross member has been modified for both camber and toe adjustment. Both can be adjusted independantly and incrementally.

On the left of the photo, between the left hand A-arm bracket and the body is a large cap screw (alan key bolt). This is the adjustment for camber. To make an adjustment, it is as simple as loosening the main A-arm nut and turning the cap screw. Turning it counter clockwise moves the arm away from the body, reducing camber. Turning it clockwise obviously winds on more camber.

On the right of the photo there is a matching cap screw - which is the adjustment for toe. It works in the same manner as the camber adjustment, except that winding it clockwise toes the rear wheel out and winding it counter clockwise toes the wheel in.

The location for the camber adjustment (at the outer bracket) was done to improve the location of the rear roll centre......or so the theory went. This is now being re-assesed and another crossmember may be made to swap the location of the camber adjustment and the toe adjusment.
