Kennywood
The park is a classic traditional park in ever sense of the word. The park manages to blend traditional rides with new high-tech thrills. There are two ways to get into the park. You can either pay a general admission, (with rides on a pay as you ride basis) or buy a ride all day pass. This was conveniant for guests that only want to ride certain rides. The park has a beautiful setting on the Monangahela River with great landscaping and a relaxed family atmosphere.
Thunderbolt:
This classic woodie uses its natural terrain to enhance the coaster experience. It uniquely features a 40ft. drop out of the station and a turnaround before hitting the lift hill. The rest of the ride is filled with side slamming laterals, and tons of ravine drops. The experience is also enhanced by the use of the classic NAD trains.
My Rating: 9
Jack Rabbit:
Another classic woodie, this one also features very classic trains. The trains have fixed lapbars and VERY thin seatbelts, making for a memorable and nostalgic ride experience. The ride has an absolutely insane double dip in the middle of the ride that creates the most intense airtime I've ever felt on a coaster, and has remained the rides trademark for over 70 years.
My Rating: 7.5
Racer:
The park's third classic coaster is probably the tamest woodie in the park, but is still very enjoyable and very re-rideable.
My rating: 6.5
Phantom's Revenge:
This coaster is a new and improved version of arrow's Steel Phantom. D.H. Morgan Manufacturing was brought in to totally re-do the 2nd part of the ride (taking out the inversions), creating a much better Phantom. The ride has an awesome spiraling first drop and an insane 2nd drop of 225 ft. through the Thunderbolt's structure before transversing into an overbanked turn and a series of airtime filled bunny hops back into the station.
My Rating: 8.5
The Exterminator:
This enclosed wild mouse style ride is really a coaster and a dark ride hybrid. The theming is incredible as you enter the building. The ride really whips it's riders around sharp turns and sudden drops all in complete darkness. A very fun ride.
