Free to Feel Written and Performed by: The Standards "Up the stairs 'cause the door was open" *Jonny steps onto the top step of the stairway and then heads to Jessie's room.* "A shoulder to cry on 'cause it made a difference to you" *Jonny enters Jessie's room to find her crying. He sits down next to her and puts an arm around her. She buries her face into his shoulder.* "Rough outside from a decision" *Split screen of Race and Estelle, both wearing very angry faces.* "Where the night life bites 'cause it's up to you" *Split screen. Jessie huddled under her covers with her hands pressed over her ears. Estelle and Race fighting and yelling at each other.* "Inspiring flights that lead where you wanna" *Jonny pulls Jessie along. By the expressions on their face it is obvious that they are in a very dangerous situation.* "This matter of choice sometimes sits unopened" *Estelle at a desk with an unopened manila folder filled with papers sitting in front of her.* "Clean inside, it's a plain solution" *Estelle opens the folder to show unmarked legal looking documents.* "When the war is waged" *Estelle and Race battling it out in court while the judge bangs her gavel trying to calm them down.* "Cause it's an open window" *Race standing in front of Commander Bennet's desk awaiting his new orders with a Stone face.* Chorus: "Free to feel what's going on" *Jessie standing in the doorway watching her parents fight.* "Free to fell my life's unowned" *Jessie heading into a jungle while her mother yells at her.* "Free to feel it's the better life" *Jessie holding a picture of her and her father smiling brightly.* "Free to feel that you're anything you want" *Small Jessie playing a game of pretend.* "To say they don't want me they don't care" *Jessie getting ready to run because she blames herself for her parents divorce.* "It's just a situation they don't want" *Jessie outside the courtroom her parents are battling in leaning against the doors.* "Well, there's somebody lending open arms" *Jessie getting a hug from both Jonny and Hadji at the same time.* "Who just opens all the windows" *They walk away from the camera, Jessie between the two boys, their arms around each others shoulders.* Chorus: "Free to feel what's going on" *Jessie talking with her parents.* "Free to feel my life's unowned" *Jessie hugging Race in front of Estelle who is frowning.* "Free to fell it's the better life" *Jessie walking into the Compound to be enthusiastically greeted by Hadji and Jonny.* "Free to feel that you're anything you want" *Jessie, Jonny and Hadji laughing together.* "It's free to feel the things I want" *Jessie sitting cuddled up with her father.* "It's freedom to be whatever I feel" *Jessie assisting Dr. Quest in an experiment.* "The one thing that I don't want" *Jessie is led into the court room where her parents and the judge are waiting.* "Is that thing that changes real life in a situation" *The judge tells Jessie her fate.* "Just don't get started x4" *"Jessie arguing with her mother.* "There's times to feel when the going gets rough" *Jessie runs away from her mother who gives a defeated sigh.* "There's times to feel that the livin' is tough" *Jessie crying over the same picture of her and her father.* "Where the world and mom keep pushing the edge" *Jessie looks up then rises and runs. Moments later Estelle enters.* "Never, never, never, never give up" *Jessie comes up behind her mother, who is sitting at a desk with a worried expression on her face, hugs her and whispers an apology.* "Free to feel what's going on" *Jessie and Estelle talking.* "Do you believe your life's unowned" *Jessie refuses to assist her mother at a dig to go read various science books.* "Free to feel it's the better life" *Jessie has just left the house only to be tackled by Jonny and Hadji.* "Free to feel what you're living for" *All three fall to the ground laughing.* "Oh, oh I want freedom to feel" *Scene from beginning of Jessie crying into Jonny's shoulder.* ^This song was originally written about the "War on Drugs", but I couldn't help but use to convey Race and Estelle's divorce and how it affected Jessie. *The Standards are an a capella group.
