Disclaimer: I do NOT own any of the "Quest team" or likeness' therein. I
am most certainly NOT making any money from this fan-fic.
Here is my entry for the "Valentine's Day challenge". I takes place a
little more than a month after "Breathless".
"Valentine surprise"
by Angie
Jessie sat cross-legged on her bed with her chin resting on her hand
staring blankly at her science book. *It's Valentine's Day, and I am here
all alone with nothing to do except homework!* In a rush of anger Jessie
slammed her book shut and tossed it to the floor, then she buried her
face into her pillow. *This sucks!*
Jessie's door slowly creaked open as an unseen being entered, Jessie
lifted her head from the pillow and looked over the bed. Bandit sat
whimpering pitifully, she reached over and gently lifted him onto her
bed.
"I know, I miss him too." She then proceeded to scratch him gently behind
his ears, Bandit growled softly with pleasure.
Jessie smiled faintly, soon her thoughts turned back to Jonny. She
remembered the kiss they had shared in the hall, a little over a month
ago, and the discussion her father had promised the day after.
"Your too young." Race reasoned.
" Dad, I'm fifteen years old!" Jessie answered defiant.
In the uneasy silence that followed Jessie could hear Dr. Quest's voice
in the next room. "Jonny, your too young for this kind of relationship."
"But dad-"
Race sat down on her bed and said sternly, "I am sending you to live
with your mother for a while."
Jessie's eyes shined with tears, " Dad! You can't....Your just....You
can't."
Jessie closed her eyes and breathed deeply. It had taken two days of
painful arguments to convince her father not to send her away. Strict
affection laws were made and enforced, Race made certain that Jessie and
Jonny had little time alone. Then, to make things worse, Jonny and Dr.
Quest left for two weeks in New York to study some recently discovered
artifacts. Jonny hadn't wanted to leave Jessie but Dr. Quest said he
needed the exposure, and Race whole-heartily agreed.
So far it had been ten days since they left and Jonny wasn't due back
until Monday. To make things worse Race and Haji had left to see 'Star
Wars' in the theater,* without her*. They didn't even ask her if she
wanted to come, they just left, saying they wouldn't be back till eight or
nine O'clock. Jessie sighed heavily as the lonely pain in her heart stole her
breath away and caused tears to form in her eyes.
There was only one sure cure for depression, mud pie ice cream. Jessie
padded barefoot downstairs to the freezer, she opened the freezer. No ice
cream, *so much for that idea*. Jessie sank into one of the kitchen
chairs and felt sorry for herself.
*This really sucks.*
Jessie's sulking was interrupted by the door-bell, she jumped up from
her chair and ran to answer it. As she passed the mirror in the den, she
realized that she was wearing a long tee-shirt that went well past her
shorts. Jessie quickly tucked her shirt in and proceeded to answer the
door.
Jessie's jaw dropped, she was speechless.
"Hi Jess," Jonny's voice was slightly muffled behind the large teddy
bear and roses he carried.
"Jonny!" Jessie exclaimed before nearly knocking him down with her heart
felt embrace.
"Jess....your..strangling me." Jonny managed, and Jessie backed off but
kept her arms around his neck.
"I can't believe it! Your here! but I thought....Your here!" Jessie
couldn't believe it.
"Your dad set it up, I guess he finally gave in." Jonny shrugged.
"Dad did what?" Jessie was getting dizzy, this was to much.
"Well, after all, it is Valentine's Day." Jonny said setting down the
roses and bear. "And it has been at least a month since we..." Jonny
pulled Jessie close, and gently kissed her lips.
So what did you guys think?
Bye,
Angie
