The things that I've done that have increased my stamina - in order of effectiveness
Stair running
The most important thing to remeber when training to increase your stamina.....is to push yourself past your limits.
Made it through 2 steps without killing yourself? ...do 4. Ran for 3 miles and feel like you've improved since 2 weeks ago because you aren't as tired as you used to be? ...push yourself and run another mile or two.
Endurance training is hard work....and personally, one of my least favorite aspects in irish dancing. But....it's gotta be done! The type of training I like best is Stair running, because you get results quickly, if combined with hard work and dance practice.
#1: Find yourself a flight of stairs....lol, in your house, the park, or anywhere else you can find one.
#2: Jog up the stairs, lifting your knees high as you leap to the next stair.
#3: Hurry back down the stairs....(careful....you don't want to slip)
#4: Jog back up again, pumping your legs hard and lifting those knees
#5: Keep repeating the up and down process until you are very tired.....(usually about 25 if you are out of shape. 50 if you are in shape. *going up one flight and down one flight counts as one*)
