Bored, and not getting much out of practicing? Here's help...

As a dancer...I know that practicing can be a real chore. Personally, I usually find it boring, and have to force myself to do it. But once you make the effort to change into a pair of shorts and lace up your pomps, there are different ways to try and get the most out of the time you have to practice in.

Practice Prep

- Grab a glass of water - or a water bottle.

- Put on your gear (ie. shorts and T-shirt, sports socks, ect.)

- Grab your ankle weights, Arm elastic, shoes and elastics, music and stereo

Tips for improving your practicing

swirlGrab a new dance CD for interest - after all, dancing to the same reel day after day can be a little tiring.

(*****HINT*****Don't get me wrong...this isn't going to work a miricle, it's just going to relieve the boredom a little)

swirlVideo Tape your dancing, then watch it afterwards (sometimes in slow motion) to discover little areas you could improve on, and make more precise.

swirlBuy a mirror and practice infront of it....watch yourself and improve your weaknesses.

(*****HINT*****If possible, mount the mirror on the wall to prevent you from getting in a severe habit of looking down)

The Routine

- Stretches
- Warm ups
- Technique
- Isolation and Perfection
- Endurance

swirl First off, do some Stretches

swirlThen, to prepare your muscles, do some kick butt jumps:

1. Stand with both feel side by side
2. Jump off the ground, kicking your butt with both feet at the same time in mid air (pointed toes)
3. Land, then repeat over and over

swirlAnother good warm up is to do a hardshoe step in your socks...just to get your legs going

swirlNow it's time for warm ups:
