There is something I see on the BBs and in the war/economic chat rooms that disgusts me. It is some form of this statement, “The U.S. is going to hell because under-educated Americans want $15 an hour while the hard-working Mexicans get half that for the same job.”
What’s wrong with this statement?
First of all STOP the self-loathing! You can empathize with the poor Mexican but not your fellow countrymen. You need to get out of the house. Travel. See how other Americans live. You would be surprised. Go to city ghettoes. Go to deeply rural America. Dammit people don’t even have good dental care.
Second, Americans live one family per house/apartment. People need $15 an hour to do that. Would you rather they live in huts? Do you want to take them down? Mexicans on the other hand are willing to live many families to a house. I have three families in a two-bedroom house right next to me.
Third, The Mexicans that are willing to live like that are nearly uneducated. They are country people. They are pickpockets on our economy. They are illegals.
Fourth, It was extremely rude of Vincente Fox to come here just days after 9.11.01 to protect his interests in raking over our country. And am I the only one who never heard the people of Mexico offer to help in the war?
Fifth, Mexico is poor. No doubt about it. It has had a corrupt government for many many years. Go to Mexico. Travel to the border towns. See what it is like. Also go to the larger cities. See the striking contrasts. Poverty and wealth. They have no middle class. They need to learn words like revolution. Not at the expense of this country. They need to effect change from the inside.
Sixth, I admire the Afghanis. They have been fighting to save themselves and their country for years. They wear the same thin cloth wraps year round. They can walk barefoot in the snow. They are far poorer than most Mexicans or nearly any Americans. They didn’t run off to some other country. They took a stand. They are honorable. Learn.
Seventh, Hogwash on that idea that ALL Mexicans are hard-workers. It’s always the same…good/bad in EVERY culture. All humans are a bit shitty. I step in my own shit all of the time.
Eight, Stop trying to dishonor the people that came here from other countries and did it the right way. Even if it took years to become a citizen.
Stop trying to bring down America! When the government has brain-washed you enough about what a good idea it is to empathize with the so sad illegal border crossers, which might be soon, and the unions no longer exist because they have been broken by cheap Mexican labor, and Americans have to live three families to a house, then perhaps everyone will wake up.
Or maybe not.
Please note: This is in no way against the people of Mexico that have come here in an honorable way. The ones who have become citizens. I bow to you. Hooray!
