Platform Edge Doors (PEDs)

Platform Edge Doors (PEDs) are new to London Underground and are only found on the extended Jubilee Line. They have been designed to improve safety at the interface between train and platform, for instance suicide attempts. They are also designed to assist with better air management. Since their initialisation they have reduced platform noise, reduced dust and kept rubbish of the tracks.

The doors are made up of toughed glass doors which are lined up with a train when it has arrived in a platform. The doors slide behind toughened glass screens. It is possible to open the doors manually in an emergency or for maintenance.
