Nissan Hawaii's 4xFamily Fun Day 11/17/2002

It was time again for Nissan Hawaii's semi-annual 4xFamily Fun Day at Kualoa Adventure Park in the majestic Ka'a'awa Valley. Although the heavens blessed us with sporadic downpours, some of us were brave (and water-proofed) enough to camp out the night before. Marvin cooked up some ono kine salmon paleo style under Jeff's lifted Xterra. MMMMMM MMMMMMMMM!! Buggah was ONOLICIOUS!! Bob and Chaney built a communal fire when the rain subsided to keep everyone nice and warm.

In the morning, the sun was shining nice and bright like it never rained at all. The "cold" shower we took was like drinking a gallon of coffee in one gulp. HATCHA CHA CHA CHA!!

Anyways, on to the good stuff!!

Since there weren't as many 4x4s as 4x2s, we decided to merge the two groups and have a 4x2 morning run and an advanced 4x4 run in the afternoon.

No matter how many times you've seen the valley, the view is always breathtaking.

The 4x2 Trail Ride runs along the side, all the way into and exits out of the middle of the valley. Their "improved" road is actually much better than most "paved" roads we have out here in the country. Even a Sentra could make it without difficulty.

These guys didn't know which herd to follow.

Just because you have a 4x2 doesn't mean you can't take it off road!!

We found a nice and slippery hill for everyone to experience. 2WD vehicles equipped with the factory LSD had no problems climbing the hill. Even trucks with a conventional "open" differential made it after a few tries.

GONIH-Gathering Of Nissan In Hawaii

(actually, we were getting ready to round up the cattle in the back ground hehehehe)

We broke for lunch and had a local style bento at base camp. Nissan Hawaii passed out a bunch of goodies while we ate. Tire gauges, hats, shirts, coolers... I gatta tell ya, Nissan Hawaii's got the best customer events on the planet!!

Two brand spakin' new Muranos were on display near base camp. One feature I like is how the brake and gas pedals move up and down instead of the seat moving forward or back, but absolutely nothing will change my mind about my S/C Xterra.

After lunch was over, it was time for the 4x4 Trail Ride. We gathered everyone and headed back into the valley.

Lots and lots of hill climbs.

Small river crossing.

Immediately after crossing the river, there was a huge and very steep grassy hill that almost everyone drove up.

On the way to Tie Rod Hill...
