As you approach the first RED line of sam , turn your radar OFF. This will allow you to get closer undetected by sam
As you fly toward the next RED line of SAM, ZOOM your Screen out (press X) to 10 MILES, This will give you a better idea how far or how near it is, after a few sites you will get the feel for distance and when those tiny little dots on the ground should be coming up.
Make sure your SPEED is above 550 mph or that sam will toast you
As you get ready to cross the final RED line turn your radar ON some times with radar turned off you will not get a launch warning.
As you turn on radar you will notice a SAM missle has been launched at you. USE Standard missle avoidance tactics.
SET UP should be done before crossing SECOND RED LINE this will give you time to concentrate on the incoming missles
To set up for gun attack on sams
FLAPS DOWN (Power 150%)
Select GUNS make sure it shows STRAFF not EEGS
After missle passes start hitting the brakes and power down to aprox 43%-46% provided you are very close watch out for a SECOND launch.
Locate the CENTER RADAR station in the SAM battery killing this will stop all launches. If you kill a launcher the RADAR will still be active and another launch will be coming (I guarantee it)
Place the upright post of your Flight path indicator just below the target (dont worry about the circle site that wanders with movement) see the diagrm below for details
