Getting Your Local Channels using Extreme HU and GetLocals v8

Ok I am going to write this step by step HOW TO so that everyone will know how to patch their bin files to get locals.

First, if you normally patch your own CAM ID to the 3M bin file then you will need to do that before starting this procedure. Instructions on how to do that are located here HOW TO PATCH CAM ID TO BIN Do not write that bin to your card just yet. You should patch your locals hex to that bin first.

Now we are ready to apply the locals hex of your choice to your 3M bin file. You will need this file before we start Get_LocalsV8.zip Unzip the file to your EXTREMEHU\HEX directory since this is the default directory in Extreme HU for hex files. Once you have done that then you are ready to move on to putting the local hex to your bin file.

Note: This HOW TO assumes that you use Extreme HU 3.5a

First you need to open either the bin file that you downloaded or the one that you have patched with your CAM ID.

Open Extreme HU 3.5a

Go to File -> Open EEPROM

Select the bin file that you want to apply locals to.

Now we will apply the local patch to bin file.
This is how:

Go to EEPROM -> Patch Hex file

Select the city from which you want your locals to come. ie: 05-Dallas.HEX

Click on Open

Viola!! It applies the hex file.

Click OK to acknowledge the patch is complete.

Now you need to save the bin file with a different name . ie: dec9patchedlocals.bin

This is how:

Go to File -> Go to Save as -> Go to Bin file

Name the file and click save

You are Done

You can now write the file that you patched to your card.

Go to File -> Go to Open EEPROM

Find file we just created

File should populate message window

Go to Card -> Boot Card -> with ins. 48

Wait for Bootstrap to load

Bootstrap loaded

Go to Card -> Clean Card -> with normal glitching

Clean your card twice

Go to Card -> Write -> Current EEPROM -> Normal Glitching

Remove Card from loader

Unplug receiver for about 20 seconds and then plug back in.

Wait for "Please insert Access Card" and Insert your card.

Done....Watch TV!!
Note: After applying this Hex file, my locals appeared in just a few minutes. For some reason these hex files overcome the usual 2 hour blackout period. This may not be the case in your situation due to IRD generation differences.
