ACHTERBERG RUMOUR

Rumours have been circulating during the past week about rovers keeper John ACHTERBERG being in contracts talks with newly promoted Wigan Athletic. The JJB lot already have an experienced goal keeper in their number one John Filan so it is hard to believe that Paul Jewell would want another keeper in his thirty's. Still ACHTERBERG has always said he wants to play for rovers for as long as possible and that it was in the "hands of the club" about whether he was going to sign last season.

HINDS AGREES HULL

Former Tranmere player Richard Hinds signs for Hull City. He has provisionally agreed a 12 month contract, but the deal will not  be finalized until July 1. Tigers manager prefers Hinds as a central midfielder thou he can play across the back line.

Taylor told the Hull Daily Mail: "The deal with Richard is as good as done and I'm delighted. He's someone I first tried to sign when I was in charge at Leicester.

"He's a very, very good player although things didn't quite work out for him at Tranmere last season.

"I think Richard wants to show Tranmere exactly what he can do and if he performs to anything like his ability, he will be an outstanding signing."
