Long before man inhabited the planet Old Earth Ancient Earth existed. Ancient Earth was traditionally a stronghold of darkness and evil. But, eventually, some Pilgrims of Light (all the races of Earth) landed there in hopes of starting a colony. They're magic was FAR more advanced than that of the natives, and they managed to blast them back enough to set up their own colonies. For a time, the Earth was divided between light and dark. The light, while greatly outnumbered, was more than able to stay in its few strong holds safely, while the dark, terrified of the slowly strengthening invaders, rushed forth its studies of the white magic in hopes that they could use it to further their own ends. Eventually, one of the races of the dark made the discovery. The Elthians were the ones who cracked the secrets of the newcomers and created a new, far more powerful level of black magic. However, the discovery itself was enough to nearly destroy their kind and tainted their nature with light. Fearful of their new double-nature, they gave their secrets to their comrades and then burrowed deep into the earth, where they could reside free of the influence of outsiders (which explains why 1: they look evil and 2: they despise outsiders and stay neutral whenever possible, unless influenced by magic or driven by a cause they agree with). Now the dark greatly outnumber the light, and their newfound power almost leveled the playing field as far as magical skill goes. They began attacking outposts of the light left and right, swarming them with grunts while neutralizing their holy powers. The last citadel of light was nearly conquered when, suddenly, Sadubon appeared on the battlefield. He was the most powerful of all the light forces, but he was kept as a last hope weapon. Just as the Elthians, the huge blast of energy he released changed the very nature of all those on the battlefield. However, his was of a far greater magnitude, and rather than subtly enhancing the power of both forces, it left both light and dark crippled and weakened. The wave of power he released spread across the globe, turning white and dark to a uniform gray... Sadubon and The Great Miraz were the only ones unaffected. Able to survive these harsh conditions the two began to clash in a devastating battle. The ultimate battle that would determine which side lived on, Light or Dark. The races themselves no longer saw any reason to battle so they huddled together into their own kinds out of fear of each other. The clashing of swords and casting of magic lasted many hours between the two great warriors Miraz and Sadubon, but in the end Sadubon was victorious. Sadubon unified man and all the races rebuilt themselves into their own places to live, and most people were left completely neutral in beliefs, though some remained slightly biased one way or the other. With the war over and peace throughout the land, slowly, the world became as it is now.
