It truly is a horrifying sight to behold. This is what is currently being caused out there in today's society. Yes, the picture is a bit violent, but do not look at the physical form of it. The symbolism, my friends, is far deeper.
You see, the world we live in, especially now, is changing for the worse. The "unpopular" people, or as I like to call them, the "Suikoden Group", are cast out from society as complete social rejects. These brave few are ridiculed, mocked, taken for granted, and even sometimes killed, all because they chose to be kind, because they decided that they wouldn't walk all over people for their own personal gain. No, these people fought for a much greater cause than themselves.
They have the same basic needs as every other human being. The need to be loved. The need to be able to survive. The need to be respected and looked up to, at least once. The need to be important to even one person out of many. And this right has been stripped from them, or even completely denied, for several years. Many opt for the easy way out via suicide. Others fight it out through life, and are scarred and warped beyond any form of psychiatric help.
Their only main cry was for everyone to stop spending all their time worrying about themselves, and spend even one hour out of the week to care for another person, even if they do not intimately know the person. Bitter jealousy grew only after the group barricaded themselves into their homes, seeking the Internet as their best form of solace.
Alas, even the Web isn't safe for most of these people. It is a volatile warzone of text messaging. Emotions fly every which way, lies and deception spreading like wildfire. The ones that have never had love or kindness in the real world often cling to the Internet as soon as even a shred of it is shown to them, which often makes them completely dependant upon the mechanical device.
Yes, I do fit into those categories. Not only is it my story, it is the story of many others, most of whom are ignored by pretty much everyone, their desperate outcries for peace completely ignored by all but a select few. However, there is one social cliqué out there who remains malicious, cold, cruel, shallow, and uncaring about anyone but themselves.
The preppy people, or the "Preps", or even the "Popular".
These groups have varied looks. Some go for the traditional preppy looks, with brand name clothing, perfect or near perfect clothes and looks, and many colors of hair. Then there are the poseurs. These are people who pretend to be actual goths, punks, rockers, or something of that nature just because they happen to shop at Hot Topic. (I, myself, do not like Hot Topic, but that is a personal opinion, and has no relevence here). There are the "redneck" version of the preppy people, with somewhat nice shirts or wife-beaters, always wearing blue jeans or khakis, and always with a smile on...around their kind. The one thing they all have in common is simple: They are shallow, bitter, self-absorbed, sometimes simple, hideously demoralized individuals in need of counseling in the ways of kindness, acceptance, and peace.
Which is the entire point of this movement.
P is for the preppy people, whom we wish to change. R is for Resident, or those who live in the near area. O is for obliterate, but only in the moralistic sense. M is for movement, which is what this currently is.
P.R.O.M. was created in 1993 by me, Jim Townsend, in an effort to bring the idea of morals back into the public school system. Alcohol, drugs, sex, and smoking were the first things I worked on keeping people from, with little success. After 2 years of constant failure and complete ridicule, I had all but given up on the project. Now, in 2003, I am rebuilding it, the goals changed slightly but the main purpose is still the same. To bring kindness to an otherwise unkind world.
I am 18 and have some college experience now. I have pondered this matter carefully alone for several years now. I am bringing it to light now, because I realized that it is not just in high school that people are judged. Many individuals are harassed on the streets daily for having an unaccepted hobby, liking, or otherwise "childish" stress reliever, such as trading card games, roleplaying, or things of that nature. (Though, as of late, roleplaying has been overrun by the preppy people, thereby ruining most of the game, in my opinion.)
All of this, ladies and gentlemen, brings me to my main thought, a vision of what should be, and what can be, with enough hard work.
Beautiful, isn't it? This is the utopia in which all should live in. A world where bias and social segregation are non-existent, and shallow, self-absorbed people have changed their ways. Some day, I hope this shall be accomplished. Perhaps not in my lifetime, but maybe, just maybe, our children, or their children, shall realize the happiness that is brought about by love and respect of others.
In conclusion, I hope that all of you may understand my dream, and perhaps even share it. If this is the case, the guestbook is always open for that reason, and my e-mail is perfect for feedback or any questions:

Either way, I look forward to hearing from all of you. People of the Earth, unite!
