Rural Housing In Mesopotamia By: Ryan

The Mesopotamians where very resourceful people. They were the very first civilization to understand and use the concept of the arch in there building techniques. The Mesopotamians crafted there great and small structures out of one bountiful resource, mud. The mesopotamians would gather the mud up in there clay pots and take them to the place where they would be made into bricks by carfully cutting the bricks and heating them on a open fire. The only downfall of this particular building block was that it wasn't very durable, so after about three or four years it would break down and the owner of the house would have to build a new one on top of the old one. The buildings would usually be in the shape of a square or a rectangle. They would always have very low doorways.
