Healthy Communities and Workplaces
LCSA is committed to creating healthy communities and work environments in San Diego and Orange County area. LCSA works to reduce exposure to environmental tobacco smoke at universities and/or community colleges. This is accomplished by developing policies through collaborative efforts and by providing culturally relevant education to diverse populations.
Working with San Diego colleges and universities to adopt smoke free policies to provide second hand smoking free environments for students and faculty

BREATH---promotes smoke free workplaces and encourages local officials and enforcement agencies to enforce Labor Code 6404.5, in San Diego and Orange Counties.

Working to decrease exposure to second hand smoke at outdoor community events.
This is a demonstration project funded by the Workforce Investment Act Governor's 15% Discretionary funds. Services offered are directed at Eliminating Barriers to Employment, to enable a change in the economic conditions of its participants and our local community.
Services are targeted to individuals who reside in the South, Metro, and East areas of the county. Through partnership we are able to serve adults who are unemployed, the disable, homeless battered women, ex-offenders, TANF recipients and/ or low income students. Individuals served are enrolled in our partner programs and receive a wide range of services that help cover the cost of transportation, childcare, auto repair and other needs that are creating barriers to self-sufficiency.
In School Youth
The School-to-Work Transition Program helps disadvataged youth prepare for high-quality jobs through vocational exploration and work-based learning activities in partnership with local schools, labor, and employers. Our In-School Youth Program, assists students in identifying and reaching their personal, academic, and career goals.
Direct Services
Funding cutbacks and increasing poverty rates have made life very difficult for some of our neighbors. Labor's Community Service Agency, in partnership with community based organizations, offers referrals to resources and/or programs for solving human problems in our community. Working with citizens to help them access services designed to increase their self-sufficiency, LCSA Staff refers or provides for:
Home Security Rehabilitation
The purpose fo this project is to provide senior & low income homeowners throughout San Diego County with a suitable living environment through the installation of basic home security and safety devices. No one should live in fear of being vicitmized by burglaries or assaults.
