Conflict:
-a struggle between opposing forces or a problem that must be solved
-one of the most important elements because it causes the actions that form the plot
External Conflict:
-when a character struggles against some outside person or force
-ex: storm, jealous enemy, social convention…
Internal Conflict:
-struggle that takes place within the protagonist’s mind
-ex: the character struggles to reach some new understanding or to make an important decision
Central Conflict:
-the development of the central conflict shows how the characters are affected by it
-often occurs between two characters or between a character and the forces of nature
-adds interest and makes the reader wonder who/what will win
