Fharlanghn, god of Travel, has always instilled a free-spirited and adventuring passion among his followers. His devout go from town to town, doing what they have to do to make enough money to move onto the next place. Travel and experience is everything to them, and the same can be said of his Striders, an organization that has dedicated itself to thwarting evil in the Traveler's name.
The Striders of Fharlanghn are relatively knew in the game as far as organized operations go, and due to the fact that a large number of them move from place to place to place they have been some time in the making now. Once they were able to hammer out some general guidelines though the infrastructure of the Striders seemed to fall into place, with most of their operatives still moving from town to town, but reporting back regularly to Strider bolt-holes such as the Lucky Monkey outside Saens. Most of these so called bolt-holes are inns and taverns across the continent, usually run by a follower of Fharlanghn who settled down but still likes to live vicariously through the stories he hears around the bar.
When the Striders were first formed they were tasked with a great honor by the conglomeration of churches involved in the disruption of the resurrection of Orcus. They were to take the ring that was used to seal the Eye of Orcus in Mount Fear and keep it hidden. So in their typical fashion they kept the ring on the move constantly, most people in the Striders not knowing where it was. Unfortunately the wielder was struck by bandits one day, and killed, the ring taken and sold to a bard of the old lore who went to Zan Thulte in search of the "great treasure" entombed inside Mount Fear. It was that which sparked the latest course of events, and the Striders look none to good in most other religious organizations eyes right now. Well, at least those who are aware of what they fouled up.
