"A Day in the Life of Glim Waywhocket"

Glim pressed himself against the wall as hard as possible. It was pitch black, and he heard narry a sound besides the "drip, drip, drip" of condensation coming from the ceiling. With his hand on the hilt of his sword cane, just in case, he began searching the shadows for signs of the Righteous Man's movement. He had been led here by the guild leader for reasons known only to the Righteous Man, apparently this chamber was specially sanctified to Mask so that no light, unless magically treated, could enter without defiling the chamber. "Dark", he thought to himself,"This guy is a few bananas short of a bunch".

As if in response to those thoughts entering his head he heard speech come from the other side of the chamber. "Glim Waywhocket, you are now in the presence of Mask and his chosen! Speak no untruths and think no lies!", at that he heard the voice of the Righteous Man begin to chant eerily and suddenly sparks of light energy began to form in an area about 20 feet away from him. He could see the face of the Righteous Man mouthing the words as he traced symbols in the air with his hands. "Adonai nochantal amach!", and suddenly the magic illuminated the entirety of the room for the briefest of instants, but soon it was all dark once more. Glim gripped the hilt of his sword all the tighter. "Now can we get on with our business, I've pressing matters elsewhere today", Glim blurted out almost spastically. It wasn't that he was afraid of the dark, he just didn't trust that the Righteous Man's sanity would hold out past the hour.

"Indeed. Glim Waywhocket, I have called you here today to make you a full member of the guild, a member of the Night Knives. What say you?", spoke the Righteous Man. "Uh...thanks?", Glim said suspiciously. "And thankful you should be!", the Righteous Man said bombastically,"For you shall now be a member of a family, united under the Lord of Darkness and Unlight!". "Uh, yeeeah. Praise be to Mask!", Glim said. "PRAISE BE TO MASK!", yelled the Righteous Man. "FOR THE PRESERVATION OF MASK!", Glim said, beginning to dance around. He certainly hoped the Righteous Man was buying his charade. "TESTIFY BROTHER GLIM!", apparently he was. "I WAS ONCE LOST IN THE NIGHT, BUT IN THAT NIGHT I SAW A DARK LIGHT! THE LIGHT OF THE LORD! PRAISE BE TO MASK!", Glim said enthusiastically. I should get an award for this preformance he thought to himself. "AND NOW YOU CAN SEE! HALLELUJAH! HE HAS BEEN SAVED!", bellowed the Righteous Man. "Glim, you are truly devout. Take your badge and do this guild proud. Praise be to Mask, hallelujah!". Glim allowed himself a deep breath. "Thank you, oh Righteous One, for you in your wisdom have healed me! I go now to serve Mask!". He immediately moved to the door and opened it. As he began to frantically descend the stairs he heard from behind him the voice of the Righteous Man,"Go and sow the seeds of our Dark Lord. Praise be to Mask!".

After Glim had gotten back down the stairs he groped blindly through his pack till his hand came around a sunrod, and he pulled it out immediately and banged it against the nearest wall. Instantly the room was illuminated, and Glim noticed he was shaking. "I gotta find a better way to do my job", he thought to himself.
