Benson and Mauldin

They're not real flashy, they don't have a well-known reputation, but they get the job done, and they get the job done well. That sums up these two fairly nicely. As far as mercenaries go these two are some of the best help you can buy, Benson being the obvious muscle out of the two of them, with arms almost as big and muscular as an ogre's, with a Greatsword strapped to his bag that could similiarly be fit for an ogre as well. Most Gnolls are on average large strong and good at fighting, but they seem almost small when compared to Benson. He's by no means a brain surgeon, but he's certainly not dumb by any means, and at the very least he's smart enough to leave the planning and other activities requiring more then a modicum of brain activity to his partner.

Speaking of his partner, it's not always all that clear exactly what Mauldin's specialty is. He's rather unusual by Hobgoblin standards, but in almost exactly the opposite way that Benson is unusual by Gnoll standards. He's favorite weapon is his composite longbow, which he appears to be quite good with, even without using any of the considerable magic at his disposal. Of what is meant by considerable is...well, um, it's kind of a guess actually. He hasn't been seen using any really hellacious stuff like Fireball or Lightning bolt, however, it is suspect he has some kind of ability to polymorph as Benson and him were both able to comfortably pose as humans during their stay in the Theocracy of the Pale. The really dangerous thing about these two is that no one has really challenged them to the point where they need to actually put up a real fight, and so largely both of them have been able to escape being scrutinized, which is one of the most dangerous aspects about them, really. They are for the most part unknown, and those that are aware of who they are only have a few guesses for what some of Mauldin's spells could be and an affirmative on what Benson's favored weapon is. Unfortunately many men died to bring you that Zhents died to bring you that last piece of information.
