Very little is known outside Elven society about Althizar, beside the fact that he is a powerful magic user and a benevolent leader among his people. He has for many generations lead the UEK through a golden age of peace and tranquility, it has been 500 years since the Elven lands have seen violent bloodshed due to war, and this is mainly due to this elf, Althizar.

What is not generally known about Althizar is his past. Before he began to act on his interest in Elven politics he, like many other elven men, took up the career of an adventurer for a number of centuries. It was in this time that he met up with and teamed with two names that may live forever in infamy, but for now they are complacent just to live. The two I'm referring two are Gaern Shalen, and his boss: Cromwell the Magnificent, former adventuring partners of Althizar Archan.

Even the wisest of us make mistakes, and unfortunately for Althizar this would be a large one that he'd have to learn from. It took him sometime to realize what Gaern and Cromwell's true intentions were, and that both their powers were fueled by the Plane of Shadow and the Queen of Shadow herself, Shar. He unwittingly played a large part in Cromwell's rise to power and the formation of the Gnome Protectorate, however, this is a fact that haunts Althizar to this day, and something he has not discussed since it happened. One can only dream of what the Gnome Protectorate would be today if it were not for Cromwell having gained controlling interest in their government...

He was recently approached by members of the Striders of Fharlanghan, them wanting him to hand custody of his piece of the staff Quah No-Mag made that supposedly is needed to get the Eye of Orcus to function properly. After successfully wiping out a Gnomish outpost to the West of Naevel he did, after some coaxing, hand the piece of the staff over to the Striders, and in addition he finally after all these years seems to feel the need to act against Cromwell and fight once more against the gnomes.
