XBITS: Xboats in Tender System

Why?

There are a few who believe the standard XBoat system is too nightmarishly fragile to actually have functioned for its purpose across an 11,000 system Imperium. I have replaced the Imperium canon Communications System in my traveller universe (MTU) with XBITS.

Process Overview

The X-Boat in Tender System (XBITS) is similar to 17th-18th century light tower communications or the 19th century telegraph in function and purpose.
A X-Boat Tender has a specialized Jump Communications Array (JCA).  Senders and Receivers are located in predetermined locations outside of 100 solar diameters.  Communications process;
  1. Tender A has a message for Tender B and creates a Jump mini-universe feeding the message into the mini-universe.
  2. The packet is released from Jump space after the pre-determined 1 week timeframe.
  3. Tender B receives the message, decodes it and passes it on to locations within the system or through its' Jump Communications Array to another Tender.

Definition

X-Boats -   A mini-universe communications information packet that transfers between two pre-determined locations in Jump Space. These packets can be informational radio or e-packets and are always encoded for security.  The energy required would be equivalent to jumping 1dton of mass no matter the size of the packet.

Tenders -  Imperium tenders are generally 1000dt starships serving a multiple-purpose roll. Although, there are many variations of the Tender, Imperium Scout Service Tenders will also service other scout vessels or deliver postal services when necessary.   Many systems have tried moving to automated probes but the sentient management of the system has been one of the keys to its success.

Jump Communications Array (JCA) - Communication system that produces a 1dton jump mini-universe with enough energy to reach a pre-determined target 1J to 6J distant.
