(900) DM: giant bones you think

(900) DM: what are you doing?
** (898) Taura lifts his tunic - no, no bones here **
(901) Kerrick: *sigh*
(901) Kerrick: are we all done now? we should go back
(898) Taura: These bones look pretty old
(898) Taura: We could explore some more but I am not sure what it will get us
(898) Taura: We could always come back I suppose
(901) Kerrick: don't know.. most likely killed, though
(901) Kerrick: we only have so much time, anyway
(901) Kerrick: we shoud start heading back
(898) Taura: I suppose it is time....
(898) Taura: Before this torch runs out
(901) Kerrick: right
** (901) Kerrick turns and starts back.. **
(898) Taura: Just one last thing
** (901) Kerrick look behind to see if anybody is following **
(901) Kerrick: yes?
(900) DM: you turn and begin heading away
(898) Taura: "WAHHHHHHHHHHH"
** (898) Taura Taura listens to the echoes **
** (898) Taura Taura turns and folows the otehrs **
** (901) Kerrick glares at Taura **
(901) Kerrick: if anyone was around to hear....
(901) Kerrick: let's hurry
(900) DM: heading away from the pile, you get about a dozen steps out, and then hear a rattling sound behind you
** (898) Taura follows Kerrick **
(901) Kerrick: memoves behind the others... but not totally in the rear
** (898) Taura turns on his heels, **
(900) DM: the rattle continues, turning into a punctuated thumping sound
(900) DM: like a stone bouncing down a hill
** (898) Taura Long bow to the ready, arrow notched **
(900) DM: another large skull comes tumbling off the pile and rolls towards you loudly
(901) Kerrick: let's go
(901) Kerrick: go
(901) Kerrick: go
(900) DM: then, you hear an ominous, and much louder rattling sound
(900) DM: like hundreds of bones being swept to the side
** (898) Taura follows Kerrick keeping an eye on his back **
(901) Kerrick: ok, RUN!!
** (898) Taura running **
(901) Kerrick: me runs like a bitch
(900) DM: running like mad, you head back to the entrance where Taura saw the tracks
** (901) Kerrick runs like a bitch **
(900) DM: which way do you go? Taura, you are in the lead
Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (901) Kerrick...

** (898) Taura back to the original entrancem which was down along the wall **
** (898) Taura where we came in **
(900) DM: heading along the wall, you hear a loud and definite *boom* sound to your right
(900) DM: from the direction of teh bone pile
(898) Taura: Kerrick - Are you keeping up *yelled*
(901) Kerrick: YES!! I am fast with no armor
(901) Kerrick: but not for long!
(900) DM: another loud boom, and the party sprints towards teh first entrance
(900) DM: you make it, and turn quickly down the long, tall stairway
(901) Kerrick: must.. get.. to.. small.. passage
(898) Taura: I just want one last look - to see what happened behind us
** (901) Kerrick keeps running **
(901) Kerrick: don't stop!
** (898) Taura Taura looks at where the pile of bones was **
(900) DM: the regular pacing of teh booms dgrows quieter as you round teh corner, and make your way back to the small, winding passage that leads up
(900) DM: about two and a half rotations around, you stop to catch your breath
(901) Kerrick: Taura... what did you see?
(898) Taura: I can't be sure - thought I saw a figure
(900) DM: You are currently around the corner, down the stairs, across a cave, and two and a half full rotations around the spiralling tunnel
(898) Taura: Perhpas the owner of the handkerchief
(898) Taura: Did you sense magic?
(901) Kerrick: can you describe the figure?
(901) Kerrick: I didn't look for magic.. I was too busy trying to keep up
(898) Taura: It was too dark, it just seemed humanoid
(901) Kerrick: how big?
(898) Taura: I couldn't tell - a little shorter than Jeremiah perhaps...
(901) Kerrick: it was making all those booming sounds?
(901) Kerrick: coming our way?
(898) Taura: I just got a quick glance, and didn't want to find out if it was coming our way or not
(898) Taura: With the book and the magic it containsm who knows if the thing down there is a sorcer...
(901) Kerrick: everybody quiet.. listen.. hear anything
(901) Kerrick: ?
** (898) Taura listens **
** (901) Kerrick listens **
(900) DM: you hear nothing, but looking down the slope, you see a faint light, flickering
(901) Kerrick: like a torch...
(900) DM: it is yellow like firelight, but you hear no burning torch flames
(901) Kerrick: is it getting brighter?
(900) DM: it is slowly getting brighter
(901) Kerrick: well? shall we continue?
(898) Taura: Let's hold here....
** (901) Kerrick edges up the steps a bitmore **
(898) Taura: I want to see what this is
(901) Kerrick: right.. I'll take some cover
** (898) Taura readies long bow + arrow **
(900) DM: Coming around teh winding passage is a burning flame
(902) Fungia: "Keep moving...there is a giant behind us"
(901) Kerrick: he can't reach in here
(898) Taura: Who goes there?
(900) DM: at first, that is all you can make out, then you realize the flame is coming from a stone, and that stone is held in a man's hand
(902) Fungia: Taura, don't you recognize an old friend?
** (901) Kerrick studies the burning stone **
(898) Taura: The voice sounds somewhat familiar....
(901) Kerrick: friend?
(898) Taura: OOC - words too big,,.,,
(902) Fungia: It is I, Fungia
(898) Taura: Who ?
(900) DM: The figure makes his way calmly around the bend
(898) Taura: Fungia .........
(898) Taura: Oh yes!
(902) Fungia: From the monistary
** (901) Kerrick watches **
(898) Taura: Last year
(898) Taura: Yes
(900) DM: he's dressed simply, without armor, and has but two small peasant's hand-sickles on his belt
(898) Taura: I can remember now
** (898) Taura lowers weapons **
(902) Fungia: You help my brother fight the goblins
(898) Taura: What of the goblins?
(898) Taura: Have you run into more?
(898) Taura: Yee!
(898) Taura: Where are manners....
(898) Taura: Kerrick, Jeremiah, Matthias - this is Fungia
(902) Fungia: After our party was slaughtered by the goblins...
(901) Kerrick: *nods* Fungia
(902) Fungia: I went back to the monistary only to find it had been attacked...
(902) Fungia: I am the only one left
(898) Taura: bad news....
(898) Taura: I am glad to see you well
(902) Fungia: I have been trying to catch up with you
(898) Taura: It is sad that our fellow warriors did not live
(898) Taura: what a place to find me!
(898) Taura: Kerrick, before we met, Fungia and I were battling goblins
(901) Kerrick: *nods*
(898) Taura: I did not know how it would relate to us
(898) Taura: but it is clear now
(902) Fungia: I heard a rumor they were heading south from the monistary along your path
(898) Taura: Fungia and I have fought on the field of combat and he is a proven warrior
(900) DM: Jeremiah nods at the group, then motions to continue on. He heads up. "We can talk while we climb"
(902) Fungia: I am the last of my order
** (898) Taura follows **
(898) Taura: We have been presented with some riddles
(898) Taura: by a Seer
** (901) Kerrick goes up **
(898) Taura: We are trying to solve this puzzle
(898) Taura: Perhaps we can talk more over some ale?
(901) Kerrick: we need to hide this book before leaving this place
(898) Taura: OOC - have we been healed since the last fight
(900) DM: no
(900) DM: no healing has been done
(902) Fungia: I giant behind us was not concered when I passed, but I don't what it to change it's mind
(902) Fungia: concered = concerned
(898) Taura: Giants?
(898) Taura: I saw the bones ...
(898) Taura: Maybe I don't want to find out
(900) DM: you reach the end of teh spiral, about 6 more times around and perhaps 200 feet up from where you started
(902) Fungia: You didn't see the giant?
(898) Taura: I heard it
(900) DM: Kerrick slides through the small crack first, followed by the others, and you drop down into the catacomb chamber with the grave of King Zacharius
** (898) Taura breathing hard **
(898) Taura: Kerrick, where should we leave the book?
(901) Kerrick: not leave it.. hide it
(901) Kerrick: take it with us for study, but make sure it's hidden
(900) DM: wandering back in teh direction you think you came, you seeon reallize that you are quite lost down in this maze
(901) Kerrick: not good
(900) DM: Jeremiah's torch burns out, but Fungia's burning rock shows teh way, so he does not light another
(900) DM: the dusty graves give no sign of teh direction to head
(902) Fungia: Kerrick, what is this book?
(901) Kerrick: no tracks on teh dusty floor to follow?
** (898) Taura checks the floor **
(901) Kerrick: this is a book Matthias pulled from below
(898) Taura: I am trying to find our path...
(900) DM: *The book to which they refer is a 3foot by 2 foot tomb that Kerrick the halfling has on his back
(901) Kerrick: we're not sure what it is yet
(901) Kerrick: it is strong with clerical magic
(900) DM: nearly as big as him, he hefts it easily
** (898) Taura looks for any tracks that the party left **
(901) Kerrick: and also shas some sorcery on it
(901) Kerrick: we believe it may help us solve our riddle
(900) DM: Roll Survival
(900) DM: for tracking
(898) Taura: [1d20+3] -> [19,3] = (22)
(898) Taura: OOC woohooo
(898) Taura: OOC I hope I roll like that!!!
(898) Taura: OOC ALL NIGHT LONG!!! OH yeah!
(900) DM: you puzzle along for a while, realizing you are in a new hallway... no tracks to note
(898) Taura: I think we are lost
(900) DM: but soon, you find another passage, and find a large number of tracks, headed in two directions (to and from)
(898) Taura: Fungia, do you recall a way out?
(900) DM: do you go right, or left?
(901) Kerrick: do you see ANY tracks?
(907) No Name (enter): 20:16
Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (907) Jeremiah...
(901) Kerrick: OOC: when in doubt, go down and to the left.. since no down.. go left!
(907) Jeremiah: ooc: Jeremiah is going to behead teh halfling
(898) Taura: We go left
(901) Kerrick: :)
(900) DM: OOC: +3 XP for kerrick
(900) DM: OOC : he remembered my old motto
(900) DM: headed left, you go along and come to a series of turns
(901) Kerrick: OOC: woo hoo
(900) DM: right, left
(900) DM: left again
(901) Kerrick: left, of course
(900) DM: strait
(900) DM: then right again
(900) DM: and see natural, pure white light up ahead
(898) Taura: Kerrick, is that magical light>
(900) DM: the tunnel heads straight and rises slightly
(901) Kerrick: I can't tell
(902) Fungia: Fungia puts torch stone back in pouch
(902) Fungia: We should proceed with caution
(900) DM: the graves end off, and about 50 yards further you come to the surface
(898) Taura: Right
** (901) Kerrick hides the book under his robes as best as possible **
(907) Jeremiah: ooc: <--catching up
(900) DM: kerrick cannot hide the book
(907) Jeremiah: ooc :I'm catching up
(901) Kerrick: someone needs to help out here.. this looks ridiculous
(907) Jeremiah: ooc I'm assuming the bag of heads was left behind
(900) DM: no, you still have the bag of heads
(898) Taura: OOC what about the bag?
(898) Taura: Shall we dump the heads?
(900) DM: looking around, trying to figure out about what to do, you see that you are behind a thick bush
(898) Taura: And put in the book?
(900) DM: tracks head in and out, and Mattias, ever brave, heads forward around teh shrub
(898) Taura: Jeremi
(898) Taura: DO you have preference?
(900) DM: "It's okay. THere's nobody around"
(901) Kerrick: have anything that has not been savagely soiled?
** (907) Jeremiah looks at the blood-stained bag and then to the book, "Do we want blood all over that nice book? **
(901) Kerrick: let's at least TRY not to panger the gods
(901) Kerrick: anger*
(900) DM: The bag is 1/3 big enough to hold the book
(900) DM: coming out of the tunnel and around the bush, you see he was right.
(900) DM: it's early afternoon, and with the book wrapped in Kerrick's cloak and held by Jeremiah, you realize you are in a sort of park or something
(900) DM: you're outside of teh main town
** (907) Jeremiah sheethes his sword so as to not draw unneeded attention **
(901) Kerrick: let's get that thing to a safe place
(900) DM: surrounded by low bushes and trees
(900) DM: and the tinkle of a creek can be heard nearby
(907) Jeremiah: "where can we possibly hide a book that large?
(900) DM: one of teh small streams that runs into town
(901) Kerrick: OOC: my cpu getting hammered by the giant rendering it's doing right now
(898) Taura: Kerrick, since you talked to the bar maid, you know this area better.
(901) Kerrick: I do? She hgave me the gneral layout of the town
(900) DM: the tracks which were so easy to follow in the tunnel now disperse, and are lost on the hard ground. Most of them turn back towards teh center of town, to the west
(898) Taura: Fungia, have you learned much about this town in your time here?
** (907) Jeremiah checks his belongings to make sure the newcomer hasn't pilfered anything **
(900) DM: you're out on the east side of town, along a stream, where there are trees and shrubs covering view
(901) Kerrick: we have to head west
(902) Fungia: No, avoided the town. Cannot help you much
(900) DM: about 30 yards back to the west is teh first house, and about another 100 yards beyond is the start of teh town propper
(898) Taura: Shall we wait here until dark?
(898) Taura: and then enter town?
(900) DM: You could probably stash the book around here, but it would be hard to really conceal something that big
(902) Fungia: Kerrick, have you tried reading the book?
(907) Jeremiah: I'd like to find Endrin....
(898) Taura: Me too
(901) Kerrick: Fungia. Not at all.
(900) DM: Matthias, looking up at the sun and praising the High Father Arast Above, comes around and administers healing
(898) Taura: If we can get to an Inn, we could split up
(900) DM: he asks each of you to say a short prayer with him before he casts his healing magic
(898) Taura: Kerreick and Matth
(898) Taura: could stay with the book
(898) Taura: the rest of us could fine Endrin
(900) Matthias: Anyone need my services?
** (898) Taura bows his head **
(898) Taura: I do
(900) Matthias: Arast would be pleased to help. Pray with me
** (901) Kerrick bows head **
** (907) Jeremiah ignores the cleric **
(900) Matthias: he mumbles along a prayer about the greatness, warmth and compassion of the high son above
(898) Taura: mumble mumble .. Praise Arast ... mumble Mumble. ...
(900) Matthias: smiling brightly, he then administers his magic
(900) Matthias: [1d8+3] -> [4,3] = (7)
(900) Matthias: [1d8+3] -> [5,3] = (8)
(900) Matthias: [1d8+3] -> [5,3] = (8)
(900) Matthias: Taura = 7
(900) Matthias: Kerrick = 8
(900) Matthias: Himself = 8
(898) Taura: Thank you kind Cleric
(900) Matthias: Jeremiah = 0
(901) Kerrick: thank you
(900) Matthias: The gift is not from me, but from Arast!
(907) Jeremiah: oc how much am I damaged?
(900) Matthias: ooc: if you don't record this stuff, I'm going to have you killed soon
(907) Jeremiah: ooc I wasn't here?
(907) Jeremiah: duh
** (898) Taura bends over and cannot control himself .... **
(900) Matthias: Larry:
(898) Taura: That's a gift from My Ass!
(900) Matthias: let's go with "zero"
(901) Kerrick: ?
** (907) Jeremiah laughs loudly **
(900) Matthias: What?
(900) Matthias: All the nerve....!
(900) Matthias: Arast has seen to your welfare on many occasions
(901) Kerrick: ooc: you said "Larry: "
(900) Matthias: I should think...
(898) Taura: A joke, friend
** (900) Matthias stammers madly **

(902) Fungia: Pull yourself together, why don't you tell me about these riddles
(898) Taura: You serve your God well
** (907) Jeremiah puts his hand on Matthias's shoulder, "Relax....the elf was mearly making a play on words." **
** (898) Taura bows to Matt **
** (900) Matthias looks deeply injured **
(900) Matthias: I'm going back to the Mermaid. I will see you there
** (900) Matthias heds back to town, in a huff **
(907) Jeremiah: ooc follow the DM?
(901) Kerrick: we could have used a cleric to carry the book
(898) Taura: I did it now - me and my big mouth....
(900) DM: ooc: do what you want. John isn't here, so now I don't have to worry
(902) Fungia: We better follow Taura
(901) Kerrick: the book!
(901) Kerrick: Jeremiah has it in my robes.. you think that's enough?
(907) Jeremiah: What about the book?!
(898) Taura: Shall we go back to the Inn in daylight?
(902) Fungia: Let's get a room to examine it
(900) DM: The book is well covered in Kerrick's cloak
(901) Kerrick: let's just go
(898) Taura: OK
(901) Kerrick: you/me starts to follow Mat
(900) DM: you head back into town, and draw surprisingly little suspicion
** (898) Taura heads to the Inn, behind Matthias **
(902) Fungia: Kerrick could examine, while the rest find some drinks
(907) Jeremiah: let's go...fine.....catch up to the pouting cleric
(900) DM: it seems that groups of heavily armed, miss racial men is a common site here
(900) DM: you make it to town, and locoate your inn, The Mermaid, without much trouble
(900) DM: Amanda is particularly happy to see Kerrick, and gives him a kiss as you all come in
(900) Amanda: Lunch, good sirs? And you have a new friend. Well met!
** (901) Kerrick smiles at Amanda **
** (907) Jeremiah waits for a moment in private and nudges Kerrick, "ask her where Endrin is hiding..." **
(902) Fungia: Fungia, nodes
(898) Taura: Hi Amanda
** (900) Amanda brings out some bread and broth for lunch, and heads back to the kitchen to cook **
** (907) Jeremiah smiles at Amanda, "Good ot be back, and lunch would be great!!: **
(900) DM: you are teh only ones in teh small common room of the Mermaid
(900) DM: Matthias did not come back
(907) Jeremiah: "Amanda, is this a slow time for you?
(901) Kerrick: let's go to the room for a sec, Jeremiah
(901) Kerrick: with my robes...
(898) Taura: Has anyone seen Matthias?
(900) DM: Amanda calls out from the kitchen
(898) Taura: Amanda, did Matthias come through here?
(900) Amanda: Your other friend? He came and went a few minutes ago. Said he was headed to the temple for guidance
(898) Taura: Thank you
(900) Amanda: mumbling about elves and insolence and something like that
(901) Kerrick: When Amanda is ot of site...Jeremiah, my robes, please?
(907) Jeremiah: Do we HAVE a room?
(900) DM: yes
(898) Taura: I am hungry, but I want to make sure that Kerrick and the book are safe
(900) DM: you eat quickly, then retire to the room
** (898) Taura heads to the room **
(900) DM: the room is how you left it, except for the beds being made
(898) Taura: Kerrick, are you going to dig into the book now?
(901) Kerrick: wel.. of a sort, yes
(901) Kerrick: I'm nervous
(901) Kerrick: this could be trapped
(907) Jeremiah: huge book, babbling cleric, it's unusually light....why be worried?
(900) DM: ooc: brb. continue on
(901) Kerrick: so.. who wants to open it?
(907) Jeremiah: Fungia?
(898) Taura: I want to find Endrin, but I don't know if anyione is looking for that book
(898) Taura: Kerrick, should you wait for Matthias?
(898) Taura: He may be abkle to help if something goes wrong
(901) Kerrick: yes I think that might be smart
(901) Kerrick: somebody want to go find him?
(898) Taura: I can go, since I caused the trouble
(902) Fungia: I will go with you
(900) DM: ooc: back
** (898) Taura heads out the door to find Amands **
(900) DM: Fungia and Tuara head out to find Matthias
(900) DM: Jeremiah and Kerrick stay with the book?
(898) Taura: Fungia, how were you able to find us?
(901) Kerrick: yes
(907) Jeremiah: yep
** (898) Taura walks as he talks **
(900) DM: Jer and Ker - you guys look at it, and nothing interesting happens
(900) DM: Taura and Fungia make their way to the Temple, a tall structure in the middle of town
(900) DM: the tallest building, in fact
(898) Taura: Amanda, do you know which temple Matthias went to?
(898) Taura: OOC N/M
(900) DM: there is only one
** (898) Taura walks carefully into the templ **
** (898) Taura looks for assistance from any passing cleric **
(900) DM: The building, from afar, was impressive. The walls extend up 100 feet or more, towering over the surrounding town
(902) Fungia: This place reminds me of home
(900) DM: but up close, it is even more so. You realize the walls, the spires, everything, is made from one huge stone, cut without seems
(900) DM: the inside is open
(898) Taura: The work on this stone is amazing
(900) DM: four towers extend up, with doors in each to the inside, but the ground floor is not walled in
(900) DM: you can see Matthias by the central, sunburst-shaped altar
(900) DM: he is kneeling and staring up at teh sun
(907) Jeremiah: OOC that's bad for your eyes
** (898) Taura walks carefully up to the alter **
** (898) Taura walks loud enough to make his presence known **
(900) MATTHIAS: Arast said you would come
(898) Taura: Amin nowe ron n'kelke
(900) MATTHIAS: he also said it is my path to help you, so I shall return
(898) Taura: You have shown me much respect
(900) MATTHIAS: save it
(898) Taura: I am sorry if I offended you or your god
(900) MATTHIAS: You are like all elves... as untrustworthy as my father
(900) MATTHIAS: let's go
(898) Taura: I see
** (898) Taura heads back to the Inn **
(900) DM: you reach the inn not long after
(900) DM: finding Kerrick puzzling over the spine of the book, and Jeremiah just starting to nod off
(900) MATthias: I am here to help shoudl you need it, Kerrick
(898) Taura: Kerrick, have you made progress?
(901) Kerrick: Taura, I'm afraid not
(901) Kerrick: thank you, Matt
(901) Kerrick: MAtthias
(901) Kerrick: well
(901) Kerrick: Iguess it's now or never
(907) Jeremiah: Matthias! you're back!
(907) Jeremiah: wait
(907) Jeremiah: why don't you open it with a stick?
(907) Jeremiah: don't *touch* it
(901) Kerrick: good idea
(901) Kerrick: anyone have a stick?
(907) Jeremiah: or maybe you should just accidentally drop it so that the cover opens
** (898) Taura stands in the corner, closest to the door **
(900) DM: You all back up, with this giant book in the middle fo the room
(907) Jeremiah: I don't have a stick. I do have a dagger
(900) DM: Kerrick uses Taura's great sword to slowly lift the lid, then flips it open
(907) Jeremiah: how about a torch?
(900) DM: the cover of the tomb flops up, then down onto the floor, puffing up with dust
(900) DM: and nothing else happens
(901) Kerrick: hmm
(907) Jeremiah: Good!
(901) Kerrick: can I read anything?
(900) DM: you need to get closer
** (898) Taura takes his sword back, unless Kerrick still needs it **
** (907) Jeremiah can't help but get a little closer behind Kerrick to pear over hsi shoudler **
** (898) Taura watches intently **
(900) DM: Kerrick inches forward towards the book, with the others peering on from just beyond
(900) DM: the first page has some sort of rune on it, a spiralling, winding maze that draws the eye in. (it does not match the necklace)
(907) Jeremiah: ooc heh
(900) DM: everyone make a WILL save
(900) DM: that's 1d20 + WILL
(898) Taura: [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13)
(907) Jeremiah: [1d20+2] -> [9,2] = (11)
(907) Jeremiah: damn
(907) Jeremiah: here we go
(901) Kerrick: [1d20+5] -> [9,5] = (14)
(907) Jeremiah: ooc quick eric...make us fight something

(902) Fungia: [1d20+6] -> [2,6] = (8)

(898) Taura: OOC that bites
(907) Jeremiah: ooc hehe
(900) DM: you all feel a strong urge to reach out and trace teh rune with your fingers
(901) Kerrick: OOC: noooooooooooo
(900) DM: but are too mezmerized by it.... except for Fungia, who touches it
(907) Jeremiah: ooc nice
(900) DM: As soon as his finger touches the page, a strong wind comes out of the book
(900) DM: hair and cloaks are blown back, and the room drops into an icy cold
(900) DM: light from the windows outside darkens, and shadows seem to dance about the room
(901) Kerrick: can I reach to close the book?
(900) DM: Fungia - another WILL check
(907) Jeremiah: do I want to knock him off the book, or am I too mezmorized?
(902) Fungia: [1d20+6] -> [9,6] = (15)
(900) DM: Kerrick moves to close teh book, but is blown back as he gets closer
(907) Jeremiah: ooc way to go, newbie!! :)
(901) Kerrick: OOC: hey.. he fits right in!
(900) DM: A particularly dark shadow passes over Fungia, and for a moment he loosk quite grave
(907) Jeremiah: ooc :yep
(898) Taura: OOC :)
(900) DM: it blows around teh room, then to Jeremiah
(900) DM: roll WILL again
(907) Jeremiah: [1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)
(898) Taura: OOC all of us?
(901) Kerrick: OOC: oh shit
(898) Taura: [1d20+2] -> [19,2] = (21)
(898) Taura: OOC wohoo!
(907) Jeremiah: these dice are much better
(900) DM: he has teh same, pallid look, but it passes, and to Taura, who is also paralized for a moment
(900) DM: finally, it lands on Kerrick
(900) DM: same save
(901) Kerrick: [1d20+5] -> [3,5] = (8)
(907) Jeremiah: ooc :all eyes on Kerrick *peer*
(901) Kerrick: d'oh
(907) Jeremiah: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
** (898) Taura looks intently at Kerrick **
(900) DM: Kerrick looks quite pallid, more than the rest of you, and it grows in darkness
(900) DM: his eyes darken, the whites and irises, until they are completely black
(901) Kerrick: ooc: sweet
(900) DM: but then they lighten again
(900) DM: and teh room seems not so shadowy
** (898) Taura looks between Matthias and Kerrick **
(907) Jeremiah: ooc :can we kill endrin now?
(900) DM: the wind dies down
(907) Jeremiah: What ahppened, Kerrick?
(900) DM: and you look back to the book, and see that the rune on that first page is gone
(901) Kerrick: I feel sick
(907) Jeremiah: What was THAT?
(900) DM: Kerrick looks around, then turns and pukes to the side
(900) DM: heaving nastily
** (898) Taura too astonicshed for words **
(900) DM: the bread and broth that went in shoudl not come out such a dark, black color
(900) DM: but after a moment, he seems to recover
(898) Taura: Matthias, have you seen anything like that?
(900) DM: he still looks ill, like he has a flu
** (907) Jeremiah grabs for the book and closes it, sliding it away from teh group with his foot **
(900) DM: but otherwise, is okay
(907) Jeremiah: Kerrick...what happened to you?
(900) DM: you flip the lid, then move to kick the book, and realize that it is quiete heavy
(898) Taura: Kerrick, what do you need?
(907) Jeremiah: ooc what did we feel?
(900) DM: well over 100 pounds
(900) DM: when the shadow passed over you, you felt cold
(901) Kerrick: uh...
(900) DM: overwhelmingly cold
(901) Kerrick: I don't know
(900) DM: and you also felt watched
(900) DM: but you managed to shake i toff... all except Kerrick, who is still quite chilled
(907) Jeremiah: How does it feel to get penetrated by the gods, Kerrick?
(907) Jeremiah: The dwarf would have paid good moeny for that!
(898) Taura: Gods or a demon?
** (901) Kerrick doesn't respond **
(900) DM: time passes while you all watch each other
(900) DM: Matthias is equally puzzled by all these events, and has no insights
(907) Jeremiah: The book isn't light anymore. It's back to it's true weight
** (907) Jeremiah goes to open it again..tesing the cover's weight **
(900) DM: The cover is light, as book covers are, but the tomb itself is now quite heavy. As heavy as you would expect a book of that size to be
(900) DM: what do you do?
(907) Jeremiah: Kerrick, do you need something, or shall we continue?
(898) Taura: He doesn't look better
** (901) Kerrick just sits there hoping to feel better soon **
(900) DM: his color is slowly returning
(907) Jeremiah: we can't move the book now...shall we read it while we can?
(898) Taura: We felt watched, how can we be sure our moves aren't continually followed?
(900) DM: Jeremiah flips open the cover to a blank first page
(907) Jeremiah: Taura, we can't stop something like that from watching, can we? Dont worry about it
** (901) Kerrick starts reading the book **
(900) DM: Kerrick turns to the second page
(900) DM: it is covered in black ink
** (898) Taura watches Kerrick **
(900) DM: large letters, 3 or 4 inches each, in neat verticle columns run down the page
(907) Jeremiah: what's on the next page?
(900) DM: the letters look similar to elven script, but not all match up, and it's just gibberish to those who can read that
(900) DM: the next page, and the next several, are more of the same
(900) DM: a neat hand, having writen large scriptish letters
(900) DM: in columns running down the pages
(898) Taura: So we don't know how to read it and we let something out. great.
(900) DM: Kerrick casts his incantation
(900) DM: but then looks dismayed
(907) Jeremiah: can anybody read this?
(900) DM: the writing is not magical, and thus, his spell does not translate it for him
(901) Kerrick: ooc: d'oh
(898) Taura: I wondering if someone in town knows how to read this, and do we trust
(907) Jeremiah: keep flipping pages until somebody recognizes something
(900) DM: Kerrick continues flipping through the pages, hoping to find something he can read or recognize, and gets about three quarters of teh way through
(900) DM: at that point, the pages stop
(900) DM: and are all blank
(901) Kerrick: uh huh
(901) Kerrick: nothing magical?
(900) DM: they are blank to the end
(907) Jeremiah: Want to know what I think? I bet all of you do
(900) DM: and nothing is intelligable on them to any of you
(907) Jeremiah: whoever wrote this thing didn't put that rune ont eh first page
(898) Taura: I'd like to know what you think
(907) Jeremiah: but whoever is using it now did, because they can't carry it
(907) Jeremiah: and it's not finished...is it a history? is this the Giant's history?
(898) Taura: Let's put our history in it!
** (907) Jeremiah seems slightly impressed with himself, but he has no answers, is frustrated, and it's starting to show **
** (901) Kerrick kerrick is stumped **
** (901) Kerrick goes back to the first page withwriting **
(900) DM: it takes three or more flips to get all the pages back
(900) DM: you'd guess there are 500 pages or more wirtten in this book
(907) Jeremiah: I don't ahve a problem with burning this book, Kerrick
(901) Kerrick: burning...
(907) Jeremiah: ooc la la la......
(901) Kerrick: burning...
(901) Kerrick: hmmmmm
** (901) Kerrick looks pained **
(901) Kerrick: Jeremiah.. say "burning" again
(907) Jeremiah: ...burning?
** (898) Taura looks at Jeremia **
(901) Kerrick: hmm
(901) Kerrick: what about "burning this book"
(907) Jeremiah: burning this book
(907) Jeremiah: I don't have a problem
(907) Jeremiah: WITH!
(898) Taura: It looks close to elven. I wondering if the Seer knows how to read
(898) Taura: A long journey back it is
(901) Kerrick: with... ?
(907) Jeremiah: How do we get it to the Seer? We'd have to hire an animal
(902) Fungia: Do we know what language it is?
(907) Jeremiah: am I done trying to put you in pain with words, Kerrick?
(898) Taura: I seems close to elvish.
(900) Matthias: Perhaps there are more answers in teh caves?
(901) Kerrick: Jeremiah, your work may never end
(901) Kerrick: MAtthias, probably
** (907) Jeremiah tands on teh bed and peers carefully out of a window, "What if we're being watched or followed? WE have to leave this book here, and somebody may come for it **
(898) Taura: I am ready for more caves
(900) Matthias: I will stay and guard it
(898) Taura: Jeremiah, we may be watched RIGHT NOW
** (898) Taura looks at Kerrick **
** (900) Matthias hefts his mace with a grin **
(907) Jeremiah: I say we leave it here, make as though we're leaving, and watch for somebody else who may be interested in our find
(901) Kerrick: I think I need sleep
(900) DM: it is late afternoon
(900) DM: you could sup then head to bed early
(898) Taura: Those caves aren't going anywhere
(898) Taura: I think Jeremiah is right
(898) Taura: let's spend another night and see who come
(900) DM: you decide to stay the night
** (907) Jeremiah steps off of the bed, "Kerrick, you rest. I'll bring some food up for you and we'll all turn in early. **
(907) Jeremiah: etc.
(900) DM: Amanda produces another nice supper
(900) DM: this time with baked turnips
(901) Kerrick: tanks
(900) DM: She is very concerned about Kerrick
(907) Jeremiah: he's just very tired
(900) DM: and wishes to help nurse him back to health
(898) Taura: Fungia - would you believe that Kerrick here is good with the ladies....
(907) Jeremiah: [1d20+3] -> [11,3] = (14)
(900) DM: She makes her way upstairs and into the room
(901) Kerrick: what the...
(907) Jeremiah: what?
** (907) Jeremiah runs up after her **
(900) DM: "My place, I get to see him!"
** (901) Kerrick hears the footsteps of a lady and locks the door **
** (901) Kerrick tries to cover the book **
** (907) Jeremiah talks loudly and puts himself between her and the door **
(900) DM: She is very dismayed at being locked out
(907) Jeremiah: "please, maybe he isn't decent"
(900) DM: I've seen worse
** (901) Kerrick shouts from inside, SOrry! I thought I UNlocked it!" **
** (901) Kerrick unlocks the door **
** (907) Jeremiah smiles, "well...that goes without saying, but you know what I mean" **
(900) DM: he just needs a woman's touch to make him feel better
** (898) Taura realizes what happened and runs up the staris **
(900) DM: She seems deeply concerned about him
(907) Jeremiah: he needs more than that
** (898) Taura stands outside **
(901) Kerrick: OOC.. the door is unlocked
(900) DM: and wants to take him down to her room to take care of him
(907) Jeremiah: He needs sleep
(900) DM: "This little lad just needs a good suckle to make him feel better"
(907) Jeremiah: a FULL night of sleep
(900) DM: she pulls out a heavy breast and puts it to his lips
(907) Jeremiah: ooc ? haha
(901) Kerrick: ooc: wtf
(907) Jeremiah: ooc BITE IT
(900) DM: ooc: I've been reading too much Steven King
(898) Taura: OOC nice
(907) Jeremiah: ooc you don't say
(900) DM: Kerrick, not seemign to know better, does what she asks, and she leaves him alone
(907) Jeremiah: ooc move along...move along
(900) DM: "Rest up,d ear one"
(900) DM: with that, you are left alone
(900) DM: the night falls after dinner
(900) DM: you all sleep well with a barred door
(901) Kerrick: That woman has issues.
(900) DM: and in the morning, you wake early to the sound of carts heading down the avenue
(901) Kerrick: look at the carts.. they have bodies?
(900) DM: no
(900) DM: apples, and cucumbers
(907) Jeremiah: merchants?
(900) DM: farmers
(898) Taura: Normal business
(900) DM: you get up, and even Kerrick feels better. He still has deep, dark circles under his eyes, but otherwise says that he feels fine
(900) DM: what do you do?
(901) Kerrick: look at the book again
(898) Taura: Two things - find Endrin or head into cages
(900) DM: the book is the same as it was
(898) Taura: OOC caves
(907) Jeremiah: wake up, open up the book again...still heavy....go downstairs...start plan to watch for followers
(900) DM: BTW, teh bag of heads is starting to stink
(898) Taura: That not me this time.
(907) Jeremiah: we still ahve that?...ugh
(900) DM: Endrin, or Caves?
(900) DM: vote
(901) Kerrick: Endrin.. the bag needs to go
(900) DM: either way, Matthias is going to stay and protect teh book
(907) Jeremiah: endrin
(898) Taura: Endrin - he may be gone soon
(898) Taura: when his firiends not reutnr
(900) DM: you head out... but where do you go for leads?
(900) DM: Amanda has not heard of Endrin
(898) Taura: Amanda ?
(901) Kerrick: ask Amanda
(898) Taura: OOC doh
(901) Kerrick: thank her for her help in making me feel better first
(907) Jeremiah: the temple
(900) DM: You head to the temple, and find a fair congregation finishing up their morning services. It seems Arast has a strong following here
(900) DM: they break up, then start with a rough market in the square outside teh temple
** (907) Jeremiah looksat the others "we have a message for endrin, we don't know anything about him, but we need to find him....that's all...got it?" **
(900) DM: there are 3 priests in red garb discussing by the central altar
(900) DM: and plenty of farmers and merchants around
(900) DM: what do youdo?
(898) Taura: Priests may know - they deal with a lot of people
(901) Kerrick: somebody else talk to the clerics
(898) Taura: Matthias?
** (907) Jeremiah approaches a few of the closest merchants and inquires about Endrin, "Pardon me, and good morning to you! I am new to this area, here to deliver a message. Where might I find a fellow named Endrin?" **
(898) Taura: OOCC doh
(901) Kerrick: I don't really feel like getting that gclose to any gods today
(898) Taura: OOC N/M
(900) DM: anyone can roll "gather information" who wants to
(907) Jeremiah: [1d20+3] -> [13,3] = (16)
(907) Jeremiah: 13...no bonuses
(901) Kerrick: [1d20+4] -> [13,4] = (17)
(898) Taura: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(898) Taura: OOC I wish I rolled like this during combat
(902) Fungia: [1d20-1] -> [16,-1] = (15)
(900) DM: asking around with merchants, you realize that nobody has heard of Endrin
(900) DM: you are confident of that. He doesn't deal with these people
(901) Kerrick: ask the clerics...
(901) Kerrick: or not
(900) DM: what do you do?
(898) Taura: I wondering if he has a police record
(907) Jeremiah: find teh nearest garbage pile...a half-orc is sure to be attracted to it
(901) Kerrick: anyone want to ask the clerics? I don't fell like talking to them
(907) Jeremiah: I'll ask them...
(900) DM: as far as you can tell, there are no police. No lord, nobody is in charge
** (907) Jeremiah repeats his inquiry **
(900) DM: The clerics have not heard of a man named "endrin"
(900) DM: They want to know where you are from
(900) OLD CLERIC: What are you doing in Three Kings?
** (907) Jeremiah smiles, "I'm from a mining town in the north. A friend has a friend who wants me to deliver a message **
(900) OLD CLERIC: a message, eh?
(900) OLD CLERIC: I wish I could help
(900) OLD CLERIC: is there anything else I might be able to assist you with?
(901) Kerrick: are you good with languages?

(907) Jeremiah: Do you know who may be ofering good pack animals?
(900) OLD CLERIC: Why yes, I am a good scholar
** (901) Kerrick moves in between Jeremiah and the cleric **
(900) OLD CLERIC: what do you need to know?
(901) Kerrick: I came across a symbol in my travels, can I show it to you later?
(900) OLD CLERIC: why not now? Arast does not give back wasted time
(900) OLD CLERIC: Why not draw it here in the dirt?
** (901) Kerrick pulls out a blank piece of parchment and tries his best to copy fdown a few images from the pages of the book **
(901) Kerrick: images = those latters
** (898) Taura looks around for any odd activity **
(901) Kerrick: letteres*
(907) Jeremiah: I remmber it! it was sort of a spiral, wasn't it? IT was very intriguing
(900) OLD CLERIC: Are you a lettered man?
(901) Kerrick: lettered?
(900) OLD CLERIC: can you read?
(900) OLD CLERIC: write?
(907) Jeremiah: he's half of a man!
(901) Kerrick: some
(900) OLD CLERIC: I'd say these are elven... but....
(900) OLD CLERIC: this, this is surely not
(900) OLD CLERIC: where did you see these?
(901) Kerrick: I saw them written up north
** (900) OLD CLERIC gives you a sideways glance, as though he already knows the answer **
(900) OLD CLERIC: are you *sure* about that?
** (898) Taura stands closer to Fungia as the others discuss the characters **
(907) Jeremiah: Do you know what thy are?
(901) Kerrick: Sounds like you have something to say
(900) OLD CLERIC: I asked you a question first
(901) Kerrick: and I don't need to say anything
(901) Kerrick: no, i'm snot sure
(901) Kerrick: we need help solving a riddle
(901) Kerrick: involving a horde of orcs about to invade this land
(900) OLD CLERIC: why don't you and I, and your friends, retire to my chamber
(900) OLD CLERIC: to avoid unwanted ears
(901) Kerrick: yes, sounds like a great idea
(898) Taura: (carefully, under his breath to Fungia) What do you make of all this?
(907) Jeremiah: that would be lovely
(900) OLD CLERIC: he heads out to the northern tower, in, and up a stairway
** (898) Taura follows the Cleric **
(900) OLD CLERIC: you are vaguely reminded of the temple of Enki in Enkidor
** (901) Kerrick follows **
(907) Jeremiah: we all follow
(900) OLD CLERIC: upstairs is a single halways, wrapping around the outside of teh structure
(900) OLD CLERIC: doors lead into the middle
(900) OLD CLERIC: his door is the first on the right
(900) OLD CLERIC: he heads in, a small room, with a deks with some books on it
(900) OLD CLERIC: and several low benches along the close wall
(900) OLD CLERIC: sit, sit
** (900) OLD CLERIC sits behind the desk **
** (898) Taura takes a seat towards the back **
(907) Jeremiah: I'll stnad, thanks, but the halfling can sit
(900) SEEBOR: I am Seebor
(900) SEEBOR: You shall sit
** (901) Kerrick sits **
(900) SEEBOR: First, names
(900) SEEBOR: I am Seebor
(898) Taura: I am Taura
(901) Kerrick: Greetings, Seebor. I am Kerrick.
(900) SEEBOR: Good. Next, we shall share water, as is the custom of friends.
** (900) SEEBOR takes a glass, fills it from a pitcher, and passes it around after takign a swig **
(898) Taura: Thank you Seebor
** (907) Jeremiah takes a seat, "I am Jeremiah, son of Rickson" **
** (901) Kerrick sips from the glass **
** (898) Taura takes a swig when the cup passes **
** (907) Jeremiah drinks when it gets to him and passes it along **
(900) SEEBOR: good, now we are all friends, and can talk
(900) SEEBOR: freely
(900) SEEBOR: Your letters, they are not elven
(900) SEEBOR: where did you read them?
** (901) Kerrick glances at Taura **
(901) Kerrick: in a very large book
** (898) Taura looks around the room, and looks over to Kerrick **
(900) SEEBOR: Where did you get this book?
** (907) Jeremiah frowns and folds his arms over his chest **
(901) Kerrick: in fact, a book recovered by a cleric of Arast
(900) SEEBOR: Who is this cleric? Where is he now?
(901) Kerrick: I'm not sure where he went, but he can't be far
(907) Jeremiah: MAtthias. He aws here yesterday and is now with the book
(900) SEEBOR: Matthias, of Corraab?
(900) SEEBOR: yes, I met and spoke with him
** (907) Jeremiah nods **
(900) SEEBOR: He is now with this book?
(900) SEEBOR: did you open it?
(907) Jeremiah: he is a good man. Deeply devoted.
(901) Kerrick: Yes
** (907) Jeremiah pauses, "you already know the answer" **
(900) SEEBOR: And nothing happened?
(900) SEEBOR: yes...
(900) SEEBOR: I know the answer
(901) Kerrick: what do you see, Seebor?
(900) SEEBOR: I see the mark upon you, Kerrick
** (898) Taura listens intently **
(900) SEEBOR: A demon rose from that book, yes?
(900) SEEBOR: and it is now within this halfing?
** (898) Taura looks at Seebor, and thinks to himself I was right **
(901) Kerrick: that would explain things
(901) Kerrick: [1d20+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
** (898) Taura glances to Jeremiah and Kerrick **
(900) SEEBOR: I can see it....
** (901) Kerrick gets up and sprints out of the room **
(901) Kerrick: Nooooooooo
** (907) Jeremiah chases him down! **
** (898) Taura stands up **
(900) SEEBOR: the demon has control of him
** (898) Taura looks to the Cleric for any approval **
(900) SEEBOR: he cannot stand to be in the light of my purity
(900) SEEBOR: of Arast
(898) Taura: What are we to do?
(900) SEEBOR: you are to go after him
(900) SEEBOR: let me tell you
(900) SEEBOR: something
(907) Jeremiah: ooc :I already went after him
** (898) Taura watches as Jeremiah follows Kerrick and then turns his attention to Seebor **
(900) SEEBOR: That book
(900) SEEBOR: you should give it to me
(898) Taura: Yes
(900) SEEBOR: it is the tomb of the history of the giants
(900) SEEBOR: teh giants who once lived here
** (907) Jeremiah drags the struggling halfling back into the room, "What? We guessed that, but we can't move it!" **
(907) Jeremiah: ooc take that back
(900) SEEBOR: when Zacchius's son found the depths of the giant's temple
(900) SEEBOR: he found that book
(900) SEEBOR: and it was open, and ink, pure black ink, was filling itself out on the page
(900) SEEBOR: a demon stood over it
(900) SEEBOR: writing the words of that very day, the deeps of what the giants had done since teh beginning, and teh end of them
(900) SEEBOR: You have released that demon, that the Son of Zachius had bound into that book
(900) SEEBOR: The words are in Giant, and language we clerics in Three Kings have learned and kept since our beginning
(907) Jeremiah: ooc a secretary demon
(900) SEEBOR: That demon was a servant
(902) Fungia: If we give the book to you, what will you do with it?
(900) SEEBOR: and now it will want to return to it's masters
(900) SEEBOR: we will save it
(900) SEEBOR: hide it
(900) SEEBOR: and perhaps read it
(900) SEEBOR: our temple is built on top of theirs
(900) SEEBOR: out of teh highest spires of teh giant's temple
(900) SEEBOR: the book belongs here
(900) SEEBOR: the demon.... Arast save your friend
(898) Taura: Seebor, if you knew where it was, why haven';t you opened it before?
(900) SEEBOR: you should go to him now
(900) SEEBOR: We did not open the book, for we knew the rune
(900) SEEBOR: the rune of the demon bound there
(900) SEEBOR: it was held, but we thought it was safe
(900) SEEBOR: perhaps not.
(898) Taura: I see
(902) Fungia: How do we remove the demon from Kerrick?
(900) SEEBOR: kill him
(900) SEEBOR: or perhaps just drown him
(901) Kerrick: ooc: sweet
(900) SEEBOR: I do not know
(898) Taura: You mean the demon?
(900) SEEBOR: the demon and the halfling are one
(907) Jeremiah: ooc: I'm going to kick for distance
(900) SEEBOR: this is the last I will say
(900) SEEBOR: after teh Son of Zachius won the battle
(900) SEEBOR: he brought the bodies of all the giants into their temple
(900) SEEBOR: and we sent them to Arast
(900) SEEBOR: in a proper funeral, a warrior lord's funeral
(907) Jeremiah: ooc am I still in the room?
(900) SEEBOR: the book, he could not touch for the demon, so he bound it
(900) SEEBOR: and we, the men who knew, sealed the deep reaches of teh temple
(900) SEEBOR: we piled dirt over it's walls
(900) SEEBOR: hid the entrances under teh catacombs
(900) SEEBOR: and sealed those with the blessing of arast
(900) SEEBOR: but it seems we failed
(900) SEEBOR: the demon is out
(900) SEEBOR: but the tomb is now had
(900) SEEBOR: Go out to your friend
(900) SEEBOR: I cannot go with you, for the demon cannot tolerate my presence
(900) SEEBOR: go
(900) DM: you go
(900) DM: you are now outside, with Jeremiah and the halfling
(900) DM: Taura shares everything that was just said
** (901) Kerrick is holding his head **
(900) DM: go
(902) Fungia: We should not let SEEBOR have the book
(901) Kerrick: you have to WHAT?
(907) Jeremiah: "Did you tell him that there's a giant down there?"
(901) Kerrick: I agree
(901) Kerrick: he's just trying to take it from us!
(898) Taura: I too am not sure if I trust Seebor
(907) Jeremiah: he knows more than we do...but what about Kerrick?
(898) Taura: Of couse Matthias may trust him
(902) Fungia: The demon and the book are tied together. Only the caves will lead us in the right direction
(900) DM: As you talk, you see a staggering woman coming towards you, her shirt ripped off and breasts (which kerrick recognizes) hanging out
(898) Taura: We need to be careful about what we tell him
(900) Amanda: THEy Came!
(901) Kerrick: I think he's just trying to get the book!!
(901) Kerrick: he's a thief
(900) Amanda: help!
(901) Kerrick: I don't trust him
(900) Amanda: HELP!
(900) Amanda: I told them you were not here
** (898) Taura runs to Aman **
(901) Kerrick: who came?
(898) Taura: What happened?
(898) Taura: Is Matthias OK?
(900) Amanda: There was one big man... no, a pig man
(898) Taura: Are you OK?
(900) Amanda: a *spit* orc man
(901) Kerrick: where's the book??
(898) Taura: Endrin
(900) Amanda: he directed the others
(907) Jeremiah: :holds onto Kerrick harder and....."ENDRIN!"
** (901) Kerrick starts to look frantic **
(900) Amanda: they came in, and demanded to see "the travelers from the north"
(898) Taura: Ed' i'ear ar' elenea!
(900) Amanda: then they beat me, and found Matthias, and beat him
(900) Amanda: and took something from your room
(900) Amanda: something large
(907) Jeremiah: Where is MAtthias?
(900) Amanda: the orc-man said "Tell them, Airdrin sends his thanks"
** (900) Amanda collapses crying **
** (901) Kerrick struggles like hell to break free **
(907) Jeremiah: "where do you think you're going, Kerrick?"
(898) Taura: Kerrick can lead us to it? He is one withthe book
(900) Amanda: KER, JER, roll STR
(907) Jeremiah: probably can
(907) Jeremiah: [1d20+3] -> [10,3] = (13)
(901) Kerrick: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(907) Jeremiah: damn dice!
(900) Amanda: kerrick breaks free
(901) Kerrick: OOC: w00t w00t
(901) Kerrick: Amanda.. which direction did they go?
** (898) Taura runs after Kerrick **
(907) Jeremiah: slipperly little....
** (901) Kerrick runs to the entrance **
(901) Kerrick: of the catacombs
(900) DM: you run in the direction she points, back towards teh inn
** (907) Jeremiah runs after Kerrick, "don't get yourself killed YET..." **
(900) DM: back there, you find the place in ruins
(900) DM: the front door is broken in, tables are smashed
** (901) Kerrick looks for people **
(900) DM: and you see Matthias crawling across the floor
(900) DM: bleeding badly
(898) Taura: We need to help him
(901) Kerrick: ENDRIN!!
** (907) Jeremiah kneels in front of Matthias, "We should never have left you...." **
(900) DM: the tracks out the door are lost into the town
(901) Kerrick: MAtthias.. which way did they go?
(907) Jeremiah: I need water!
(900) DM: matthias is a bumbling mess. He's barely aware that you are there
** (898) Taura gets water **
** (907) Jeremiah finds some water to give to Matthias and begins to clen him up **
(907) Jeremiah: "Where are they going, Kerrick?"
** (901) Kerrick runs to the town center **
(898) Taura: Damn - do we split up and leave Matthias, who follows Kerrick?
(900) DM: In the town center, you find a cleric, who is willing to come and help Matthias
(907) Jeremiah: "RUN AFTER HIM!! I'll get Matthias!"
** (898) Taura runs after Kerrick **
** (907) Jeremiah is going to carry matthias at a slower pace,, "RUN!" **
** (898) Taura runs as fast as he can **
(907) Jeremiah: ...he's going to get himself killed for sure without anybody else to back him up
(900) DM: Kerrick returns with a cleric, who heals Matthias
(900) DM: Matthias goes from being a blubering mess to peaceful
** (907) Jeremiah looks puzzled, "You were going to get a cleric? where is the book?" **
(901) Kerrick: how should I know
(900) DM: The cleric says taht Matthias needs sleep, and he can be tended to at the temple
(900) DM: you are all welcome to come there and discuss this issue
(901) Kerrick: I don't think so
(907) Jeremiah: we do
(907) Jeremiah: is it the temple you have problems with , or just the old man?
(907) Jeremiah: come on
(900) DM: You (some reluctantly) follow teh cleric
(900) DM: Matthias is carried in by Jeremiah and taken to a cot
(900) DM: the rest of you meet downstaits and can discuss
(907) Jeremiah: howa re you feeling, Kerrick?
(900) DM: Jeremiah comes back down

(901) Kerrick: how do I look, JEremiah?
(907) Jeremiah: small
(901) Kerrick: I guess I feel ok
(901) Kerrick: it comes and goes

(907) Jeremiah: next time it's around, take us to the book, would you?
** (901) Kerrick allows a small smile **

(907) Jeremiah: I need to ask Seebor one more question
(901) Kerrick: JEremiah, why do you think I know wher ethe book is?
(907) Jeremiah: what's a live giant doing down there?
(907) Jeremiah: you weren't your composed, calculating self when you heard it was stolen
(907) Jeremiah: for once, you were fun and spontaneous
(901) Kerrick: it comes and goes
(907) Jeremiah: and I've never seen you move so fast
(901) Kerrick: that doesn't mean I hknow where to book is
(907) Jeremiah: you ran like you knew
(898) Taura: Do you feel any instinct to follow it?
(901) Kerrick: actually I was hoping to catch some sign of the thieves
(901) Kerrick: no
(907) Jeremiah: I doubt it was because of your fond feeligns towards teh cleric
(901) Kerrick: can w change the subjec tnow?
(901) Kerrick: thanks
(900) DM: standing around, you realize that at this point, the book could be quite far away
(907) Jeremiah: we have to let Matthias rest
(900) DM: Matthias is going to be okay, as is Amanda, but her business has been trashed
(898) Taura: Yes
(900) DM: And, with the way this outlaw town is, nobody is likely to say anything about some men beating up a woman and stealing something
(900) DM: or running out of town in broad daylight. This sort of thing is fairly common, and it is safest to keep your head down when it happens
(901) Kerrick: I'm going to step outside for some air.. I'm not going anywhere
** (901) Kerrick gets up and walks to just ouside the door **

(900) DM: *There are no "doors", just wide open walls of the temple

(900) DM: is anyone else doing anything special?
(907) Jeremiah: we can face teh angry giant, or we can track ghosts
(901) Kerrick: track ghosts
(898) Taura: It will be hard to track them now
(901) Kerrick: Ithink it's rather personal
(901) Kerrick: we were used
(898) Taura: But I can try
(900) DM: Taura, you have no chance of finding their tracks in this busy town
(898) Taura: I agree
(907) Jeremiah: we track, and if that fails, we'll tell the giant that we lost the book that we stole
(901) Kerrick: actually, I 'm going to find themagic shop
(907) Jeremiah: ask for Airdrin
(901) Kerrick: ask the cleric about airdrin
(901) Kerrick: see you back at the room
** (901) Kerrick goes to find magic shop **
** (898) Taura heads back to the room **
(898) Taura: OOC what's left of it
** (907) Jeremiah asks teh clerics around if they who Aidrin is **
(900) DM: The room is busted in, the dor smashed, and some blood on teh flood
(898) Taura: Maybe we should find a new Inn
(900) DM: you can see some torn chunks of flesh, but based on Matthias still having all his parts, you'd guess they came from Endrin's men
(900) DM: the beds are fine, and none of your packs were touched. Only the book is gone
(900) DM: The main room isn't so good
(898) Taura: Endrin couldn't have gone far - unless his friends are dead or he left them
(900) DM: it's badly broken up
(900) DM: and Amanda will probably be out of business for this
(907) Jeremiah: let's find them
(907) Jeremiah: can you track teh blood?
(900) DM: the blood wasn't flowing
(900) DM: like from a cut
(900) DM: sword or zes
(900) DM: axe
(900) DM: the trail ends just outside the inn
(898) Taura: OOC and no body?
(900) DM: no bodies
(907) Jeremiah: cart tracks?
(900) DM: nope
(900) DM: well, not on the alley, but there are some in the avenue
(900) DM: but they could be from the farmer that just passed, headed back to his plot
(900) DM: or from the hundreds of people coming and going in the town
(907) Jeremiah: any footprints, Taura? a half-orc footprint shouldn't be hard to spot
** (898) Taura checks for half-orc prints **
(900) DM: half orcs are not much bigger then Jeremiah
(900) DM: and it's not like they have 12 toes or something to make them stand out. One big boot is teh same as the next
(900) DM: I'm going to call the session here
(907) Jeremiah: well that's it then. I'll wait here for Kerrick, we'll see if he says anything intersting, though I doubt it, and then I'm headed back home.
(900) DM: you are ouside the inn
(900) DM: Amanda has returned to try to pick up the pieces
(900) DM: you lost the book
(900) DM: the tracks disapear into the dust
(900) DM: and Endrin outsmarted you along teh way
(900) DM: Matthias is with the Arastian clerics being healed
(900) DM: And Kerrick has gone to the magic shop to see if he can find anything
(900) DM: See you all next week
(898) Taura: bye
(907) Jeremiah: cya
(901) Kerrick: hehe
(901) Kerrick: cya
