The Story of Glenn Cope On the evening of February 16, 1964, an elderly man stepped off a Trailway Bus in On the evening of February 16, 1964, an elderly man stepped off a Trailway Bus in Brantley, Alabama. After asking for directions to the only boarding house in town, he began the short walk down the sidewalk. The boarding house was located on a small hill where the sidewalk came to an end. A small concrete drain extended from the end of the sidewalk to drain rainwater over an embankment to the gutter below. Obviously to bad eyesight, this elderly man continued walking down the drain thinking it was the sides walk and continued to the embankment where he fell and died. He carried no identification on him with the exception to his name, that being Glenn Cope. After several attempts to find someone who could claim him, the city buried him in the city cemetery, placing a small marker on his grave. It reads, “As far as the City of Brantley knows, this is Glenn Cope, died February 16, 1964.” Is there someone somewhere who may know this man? It would be wonderful to help him find his way home.16, 1964.” Is there someone somewhere who may know this man? It would be wonderful to help him find his way home.
