Where Are You Christmas
I see the snow falling, making the ground a blanket of white. I hear the carolers singing there songs of the Christ's birthday outside my window. I see all the homes decorated with lights, my own Christmas tree twinkling in the softly lit living room. I watch the shoppers crowding the stores for the gifts they buy for their loved ones and friends. The radio plays all the Christmas music I used to love to listen to and I hear each passerby wishing me a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I see the light in each child's eyes as they await Santa's arrival. It is the first Christmas without my beautiful Mother and for the first time in my life I ask, where are you Christmas? Why don't I feel you, why don't I rejoice? My thoughts are then carried back to Christmas's past, Mom busy in the kitchen, baking, and cooking. I think of the times spent sitting around the Christmas tree as a young girl, Mom leading us in the singing of all our favorite Christmas songs. All the Christmas's spent snuggling up against Mom, her telling us of her own childhood Christmas's. Where is Christmas? It's right here, in my thoughts, in my mind, in my heart...of Christmas's past with Mom, her favorite holiday. Merry Christmas Mom, I know you're right here with me, because I can feel You. I love you Mom.
