I made this small outpost as a gift for my brother, with a drawbridge designed to accommodate his army of Dark Elves.
The drawbridge is made of cedar strips (sold for dollhouse flooring) and 1/8" square basswood for supports underneath and 1/4" basswood for a crossmember
at the end of the drawbridge.
Chain is from a silver necklace, attached at the drawbridge crossmember by - of all things - hook & eye closures from the fabric store. They are
a dark burnished color and have two small holes on either side for sewing - but they worked to push small brads through and
into the crossmember. I also used glue...

I used arch supports from the Castlemolds Prison mold; the drawbridge rests on these when it is down. The chains are not winched or anything fancy, they can be pulled from inside through holes I drilled through the plaster. In retrospect, I would have used two arches from the prison mold to make a circle through which the chain could run. I wouldn't have worried about damage to the plaster, as it would look like realistic damage. | ![]() |
