History of the USSA
1991: As the USSR rebuilt itself after its near-collapse, its old enemy, the United States, looked on. The USSR's new system of government seemed to appeal to many, and Communist revolutions spread throughtout the globe. Fearful that it might spread to the USA, President George Bush declared that he was engaging in a "proactive defense of the policies which the United States holds dear", and authorized the FBI to begin rounding up the leaders of Greenpace, the Green Party, the Socialist Party, Social-Democrat Party, and others. Ralph Nader, Winona LaDuke, Jello Biafra, Mary Cal Hollis, Eric Chester, Karen Kubby, Quinn Brisben, Bill Edwards, Barbara Garson, and countless others were arrested in the middle of the night (ironically Stalinist), taken to the local Federal building, and deported to Cuba, where they were met with great enthusiasm by Castro. It was there, in 1994, that the Cuban Communists and the American Leftists prepared to bring the Revolution to America.
January 1996: The election between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush is at a crossroads. Ever since 1991, Bush has been prosecuting lefists, rounding them up and exiling them to Cuba, to join their comrades-at-arms. Lately, several people who have criticized this policy have also disappeared. Bush and Clinton each recieved equal electoral votes, and their popular votes were close enough to be equal. Neither party desists; on the day of the inauguration, both Bubba and Dubya showed up. Fortunatly, it didn't matter, as several crazed men in the crowed, in an effort to impress Jodie Foster, killed both candidates, VP candidates, and the old President/VP, as well as several members of each cabinet and the Supreme Court, with a combination of M-203s, UZIs, and M-80 grenades. Several people reported seeing the KGB assassin known as "Sergei" in the crowd holding a Kalashnikov, but those reports-if true-are unconfirmed and unsubstantiated.
Complete pandemonium breaks out. Each side accuses the other of being the perpetrators. And then, all hell breaks loose-a car bomb goes off in front of Democratic HQ, and a suitcase bomb goes off inside the Republican headquarters. Within the week, the Second Civil War has erupted.
March 1996: The USA has been much decimated by the fighting. Much of it has been in the East Coast and South; in the Midwest and West Coast (except for California and parts of Washington), it has been relatively calm. It is here that the Revolutionaries return to the USA. They convince the citizens that the war is being fought by the capitalists, over who will get to enslave the proletariat for the next several electionary cycles. That, combined with the strong (compared to the rest of the US) leftist feelings there that have been strengthened by the recent actiosn undertaken by Bush, quickly unify the West Coast and parts of the Midwest. California, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington State, and Idaho declare their independance from the USA, and become the United Socialist States of America. Only several nations recognize their independance at first: China; Vietnam; North Korea; Ireland; Iraq; Iran; Cuba; Mexico; Panama; the USSR and her satellites.
July 1996: By this time, the USA has become runified, largely thanks to combined distrust and hatred against the USSA and the nations that recognize it. Even though those nations weren't many, there were enough, and enough powerful ones, to prevent the US from bringing the SS back under their control. Not only that, but due to propaganda that the War was caused by conflicting parties, the Democrats and the Republicans merge into the American Party. All remaining US leftists are deported to the USSA, where they help make the American Worker's Paradise.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Nylon Curtain, the USSA's people's government begins its long work of Socializing the nation. Although the work was hard at first, it became easier over time, especially once firm ties with the Soviet Union were established.
1997-1998: During the beginning, the USSA struggled, and was near-collapse. Although admitted into the UN, thanks mainly to China and the Soviet Union, it was fast making enemies, along with its Communist friends. The USSA opposed the World Trade Organization and refused to join; the USSA refused to recognize Taiwan's independence from China; the USSA opposed the presence of many American and NATO forces in Israel, Iraq, and the Balkans. Japan and the Republic of Korea began demanding that the USSA pull out of the various US bases in those countrie,s which the USSA had inherited. Australia, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, and the nations of NATO and the EU imposed economic sanctions against the SS. Many say that the only thing that saved the USSA in that time frame was firm relations with the international People's Revolutionary Party (PRP) and Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON). More than anything, trade with Canada, Cuba, Panama, Mexico, Siberia, Hong Long, Wales, and Libya saved the SS from fiscal doom.
Of course, economic unrest was not the only type in those days. The National Security Organization was busy rounding up capitalists, right-wingers, and US agents; the last Leftists in the USA were being exiled, along with their families; the process of Socializing the nation was hard and long.
Besides the rounding up of leftists, and sanctions against the USSA and the Communist Bloc, there was much work going on in the USA, as well. By then, it was being called the UCSA, or United Capitalist States of America, by much of the other world. The American Party was hard at work with its own agenda. Several opposer of the "New American Order" disappeared suddenly, ostensibly due to them runing away to Canada, Mexico, Cuba, or the USSA; having an accident, etc. Press agencies that opposed the NAO suddenly burned down, or couldn't pay their taxes on time and were shut down; websites opposing the NAO found themselves |-|a><0r3d. The limitation on the number of terms a President could serve was removed, the age was lowered to thirty. From now on, all Presidential candidates must join a political party, and all parties needed to turn in at least 20% of the vote to be considered legal. All of that legislation helped ensure that the AP would remain in power indefinitely, while pursuing their goal of re-enslaving (AKA, the "reunification" of) North America.
During this time, Panama was under a severe strain. A corrupt dictatorship had ruined the government and the economy, and there was talk of lending the Canal Zone out to another country. When this news became known, the UCSA made a deal with Panama: keep the Canal, or give it to the United States. As the cost of running it was almost prohibitive to the Panamanian government, and the deadline rushed nearer, it seemed inevitable that the UCSA would regain control of the Panama Canal.
However, all was not lost. Thanks to intervention, funding, and supply by Cuba, Mexico, and the USSA, the Panama Communist Party led a revolution to overthrow the dictatorship. Within a week, the People's Republic of Panama was recognized by all Communist Bloc countries, had joined COMECON, and was successfully keeping the Canal open-and in the hands of the People. The U.S. Navy, stationed off the coast of Pannama, was forced to turn back to Florida, their plans of invasion ruined.
In addition to joining COMECON, the PR Panama, along with Cuba, Canada, and the USSA, created the North American Defense Pact, to ensure that the UCSA couldn't "re-unify" North America.
1999: During this time, the UCSA tunred its eyes to Mexico. Despite its stance towards the Communist Bloc and COMECON, its large Leftist orientation, and its involvement in the 2nd Civil War and the Panama Crises, there were many right-wingers living in Mexico. Some had even been exiled to the UCSA. The remaining ones planned for a takeover of the country. After the 1999 elections, the right-wing candidate proclaimed that he had won, as the election had been falsified. Of course, it was false, but it allowed him to start the Mexican Civil War. They would have been crushed quick between Mexican and NADP forces, had not the UCSA intervened. The U.S. Army and Marine Corps, alogn with the "Mexican Liberation Front", secured many Mexican cities and territories along the US border, and the Navy secured the Carribean coast line. By early 1999, Mexico City, along with a long supply trail to the US border, had been captured, and was not likely to be freed for a long time.
The NADP, Warsaw Pact, and other Communist Bloc alliances had to stay out of the war, lest they be seen as empire-builders. They couldn't even provide clandestine commando support and weapons/ammo supplies, as the intelligence services of other nations-Communist Block and Capitalist Bloc both-would discover. All they could do was provide food, medicine, water,a nd other forms of humaniatrian aid to Mexico. However, on the UCSA's side, support began to wane, as well. The Right had occupied much of Mexico, including the important Caribbean coast, U.S. border, Mexico City, and a trail from the city to the border. American forces began large-scale withdrawl from Mexico, although some still remain, and the US continues shipping materiel, food, etc., (quite profitable to the defense industries) to the Mexicans, as well as providing strategies and satelite recconaissance. Thus, the war continues to this day.
2002: By this time, the USSA was a major power. Together with other Communist Bloc countires, mostly the USSR, fusion energy sources had been developed, thus paving the way for a renewable, clean, high-amount energy source. The Soviet Union was, at long last, great again, with dissident voices satisfied. There was a new peace treaty in the Middle East. However, disaster struck, in the form of right-wing extremist terrorists in the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Hong Long, located in Siberia, along the Chinese border. The morning of January 11th, 2002, was met with chaos and disaster. Most of the People's Communes, foundation of the region's economy and social life, were burnt to the group by deadly infernoes. In Rinminjing, ships of tourists and supplies perished from indiscriminate fire of submarines and suicide bombings. Foreign officials and tourists were trapped in the Mao International Airport and the People's Docks. The regional government in Hua Cheng declared it a state of emergency. Not only that, but various PRP buildings around the globe were damaged or destroyed by terrorist bombings-Cardiff, Debs, Novosibirsk, even Moscow.
Response was quick. The Hong Long Peasants and Workers Militia, the Siberian Militia, and the Proletarian Guard & all Socialist State Militias of the USSA were mobilized. Thousands of suspects were apprehended. The Soviet KGB began an investiagtion. All evidence pointed to one man: Yuri V. Andropov, head of the Soviet Soliditary Party (formed to oppose the PRP), governor of the Kavkazia (Caucasus) region, ex-Premier, General-Secretary, and KGB Chief. Although there was much evidence, he has not yet been convicted, and is still awaiting trial in Russia.
As to Hong Long, they are still recovering. It will be a long time before they are back to normal, but they shall overcome-it's the Soviet Way. COMECON, the PRP, other regions/satellites, and the Moscow-based Siberian Construction Co. shall insure that they will. With friends like those, how can they not?
As to the USSA's future: only time-and the will of the-Proletariat will tell.
