Poweramp In

This input is very useful in multi-channel sound configurations. For example, say you bought CD player, integrated amp with Poweramp in, and speakers. Later on if you bought a DVD player, extra poweramps for center & rears, and a surround sound processor, say the Lexicon DC-1. You would then send the L & R signals into the Poweramp in connection, select the appropriate front button.

Master volume would then be controlled by the Lexicon (the integrated amp's volume won't decrease/increase) This is alot better than using a normal input, because you will not need to set the amp to 12 o clock to match the rest of the speaker volume, and it also bypasses the pre-amp stages of the interested amp. Basically your integrated amp is acting like a straight 2 channel poweramp to drive the front speakers. If you are slightly interested in multi-channel surround sound, try and get a amp with this type of input

WARNING- DO NOT CONNECT A SOURCE WHICH CANNOT ADJUST THE VOLUME INTO A POWERAMP IN/AV CONNECTION!!!!!

For example a CD player straight into a stereo poweramp. Connecting such a source straight into the poweramp section will result in music being reproduced at full volume, which will undoubtedly result in popping your loudspeakers, and possibly damaging your amp (at least blowing the fuses)
