Olivia~Day Five
This morning I took Olivia, wrapped her in a blanket and carried her around like a baby. I couldn’t do it for long. She is a big girl. She is two months old and she weighs 41 lbs! After five minutes of holding her babystyle, I thought my arms were going to crack in half.
Aha! I just thought of something…Olivia is large, she came from a fair-breeder, and she was in a cage with two siblings when my friend bought her. What if she was taken away from her mother too soon? According to experts, I believe six weeks is the earliest a pup should be separated from the bitch and her milk. Olivia would LOOK older, like six weeks when she was three weeks. A sloppy breeder could make a quick-cash turnover.
Sacred Mother Milk!
Maya Angelou, who I am not crazy about reading, once said something simple, yet profound. She said that a person will tell you who they are when you first meet them. Listen! And BELIEVE them.
I think that applies to dogs as well. I met Olivia the day after my friend brought her home. She was extremely shy. She had the shakes. She wet herself. She glued herself in corners. That is who she is. She probably won’t become a regular dog. The dog needs anti-depressants.
When I call her, she comes to me…cautiously.
Her owner has phoned me every day for an update. He misses her. He wants her to return. He accepts her, as is. He loves her.
