Objectives

The study of the keris has not been pursued by the Malays for a long time. The purpose of this site, among others, is to make the Malays realize that they have a cultural gem that does not belong to any other culture but their own, and that this gem must never be forsaken in the search for advanced technology.

Many people, even in the academic circle, look down on the importance of the keris. This is really distressing, especially if the people involved are Malays. Just how many Malays could tell the difference between a keris and a badek? And how many more know how to handle a keris? What about the names and significances of the parts of the keris?

In short, the keris has been a mystery since the beginning of its existance. Now, it is almost unknown to the general public. Thus, this site aims to:

reintroduce the keris as an integral part of the Malay community

state that in pursuing technological advancements, the keris, as a cultural icon, must not be left behind.

provide information on the keris, especially the keris Semenanjung for personal and academic purposes

provoke further research and studies on the keris to be conducted by Malays

proove that the keris could be approached as a scientific - and not just cultural - subject
