Part I of III

This is the first installment of three to showcase some of the projects I have worked on throughout my career. Smith Engineering was my second (after a brief stint at Advanced Engineering Consultants in SF) job as a structural engineer. The office consisted of Jeff Smith and myself. Most of our projects were residential seismic upgrades although we started to do quite a few new houses as well and even some commercial stuff.
Images 1 and 2 are from a pretty extensive remodel of an already interesting home. Images 3 and 4 are of a newly built house with lots of terraces and trellises. The ski chalet is a gorgeous new ski-in-ski-out place in Sugarbowl. The roof is supported on these cool steel "tree"-columns. Image 6 is a commercial space in the North Beach area: occupied in this picture by "The Tailored Man". The last two images are from another new private residence. The back of the two "boxes" each cantilever out over the hill.
