Known for his powerful and belligerent method of combat. Haohmaru has been a ronin almost all his life seeking to perfect his sword skills. Though most will say the legendary Haohmaru has never lost a single fight in his life, few know the story about the battle from his youth he will never forget.. when he tested his own skills against a samurai of some fame, Yagyu Jubei. It was the loss at Jubei's hands that caused Haohmaru to seek out the wisdom and instruction of Kafuin Nicotine.

       For more than six months, Haohmaru had lived under the training of  the very aged weird-demon-hunter-priest Kafuin Nicotine, who also was training  Genjuro Kibagami. One day Nicotine made Genjuro and Haohmaru fight to see who wins a magic scroll that increases your fighting skill. Genjuro won this fight, but was extremely brutal and almost killed Haohmaru. Nicotine gave the scroll to Haohmaru and expelled Genjuro from his Temple. With this Haohmaru became an even more skilled fighter than he was. That's when the rivalry began between the two warriors.

        Later on, during the spring of 1789; While passing through a small town one day, Haohmaru came upon a group of kids molesting and making fun of a smaller boy known as the demon child. After scattering the kids Haohmaru tried to help the red-headed child, who told Haohmaru that a demon had killed and destroyed his entire village, thus his family. After watching him wining easily and perfectly during one fight , the little boy was amazed by his perfect skills and killer moves, especially by his fatal kogetsuzan move, so he asked if Haohmaru would teach him how to fight so he could avenge his mother's death. Haohmaru  agreed, and began the process of training that little boy named Hisame shizumaru. And so Haohmaru thought the boy every single skill , even the famous kogetsuzan till Hisame became a master by himself. afterwards the two went on different ways but actually seeking the same goal whish is giving an end to the demon Zankuro minazuki. The huge evil man who was later defeated by shizumaru, thus taking his revenge from the killer of his mother.

        Years and years has passed Amakusa, Mizuki and Zankuro were gone, but later on new evil showed up his name was Yuga. The new evil's diabolic plan was to use Haohmaru and a new mysterious and powerful female ninja named Shiki  to produce a child with the ultimate power. but the evil's were completely destroyed as well as himself by nobody but his own son named Asura who returned from death to destroy his father ambitions .but not completely, since the child took birth but with Asura and shiki as parents. that child was left under the care o Haohmaru who had sworn to protect it.

     Twenty more long years passed , and the little child named Mikoto has grown up to be a beautiful and sword skilled women thanks to the good care of Haohmaru. But things went wrong another time when Mikoto fell in love and later escaped with a guy named Kuki Touma to a xity called Riten-kyo famous for being the capital of and island where criminals and anarchist gathered. Those unexpected turning of events made the old haohmaru take up his blade again for another big quest, the quest of finding Mikoto.
