Due to recent events, Curu Ithilin has left Goonies. Regretfully, albeit not unexpectedly. Claim the Goonies had betrayed her and had made poor choices, she decided it was time for her to move on. Bitter and angry, she left the group, leaving only a note on the counter in the main GA Lobby. She has sealed herself in KL, destroying the portal(s) to it, irrevocably alienating herself from the world she once knew. Vy 'suka, Curu.

Curu Ithilin

This profile is based on an Earth reckoning.

Name: Curu Ithilin AKA Dreamweaver

Age: 16—17 (depending on what story you’re reading)

Hair color: Burnished gold, short and curly

Eye color: Azure

Height: 5’4

Clothes style: Whatever’s most comfortable, practical, and not going to be a hindrance in fights.

Personality: Curu is a member of the intelligentsia, and thus is practical in most situations, but can also be absentminded at times. She is seen as mature for her age by her older companions, and does tend to be a bit too serious on occasion. Her intelligence sometimes makes her a bit arrogant around people of lesser minds, but this is something she realizes, and tries to work on. She’s a cautious person in most things she does, though because she’s a teenager, she has seen her share of impulsive actions. She tends to be a bit aloof in social settings unless she’s with people she knows she can trust. This is a result of her background, and is also something she tries to work on. She trusts few, though those few she does trust she trusts entirely, and to those friends she is unerringly loyal—unless that trust is betrayed, after which she continues to hold a grudge for an indeterminate period of time. Curu does have a gentler, almost maternal side, especially when dealing with younger members of other worlds. Most people who are acquainted with her Earth-self never get to see this side of Curu, unless they’ve come across her when she’s dealing with animals. You’ll never catch her saying she’s the ideal team member, and it’s true that Curu prefers to work with a small group, but she does possess the qualities that make a good friend—loyalty, compassion, patience, creativity, and an active, questioning mind that (she hopes) makes her a good person to have a conversation with.

Weaknesses: Curu tend to be overprotective of her KL citizens, especially the younger ones. If an evil person wanted to get to her, they would only have to harm one of her closest, for Curu’s bond with her Lord High Chamberlains is such that she would allow her power to consume herself in the attempt to rescue them, and seek vengeance for whatever wrong had been done to them. On earth, she tends to be unsure of herself, because that planet is very far removed from the lands she calls her home. She is quite wary of making new acquaintances there that are not in some way connected to KL.

Pet peeves/enemies: The Freaks, Amanda Sefton, evil cheerleaders, jocks, stupid people.

Significant other: Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler

Relations: The hobbits Frodo, Merry and Pippin, who are her younger cousins. She was the Apprentice of Istari Sunwand, and views him as a sort of father figure. Her Apprentice is a nine-year-old boy by the name of Gren Doppler.

Main powers: Her mutant power is to warp reality. As a result, she is almost an adept at healing, can turn into a wolf at will, and has song-powers. This power also enabled her to alter her DNA make up, turning her into a Chimera who is part Hobbit, part Elf, part Warg, and part Human.

Side powers: Various charter battle spells, staff fighting + sword fighting, some martial arts training (limited).

Transport of choice: Transportation spells, limited flight abilities, X-Jet! (Not a car yet—she doesn’t particularly relish the idea of learning to drive.)

Weapon(s) of choice: Mithril-Coated Frying Pan of Doom!!! Also her staff and thin sword.

Origin/History:

How Curu’s life would read if it were a table of contents in a book—

In which a shy, sensitive nine-year-old named Curu is rescued from a not-so-nice situation by a witch named Morwen, who teaches her the basis of the healing arts.

In which Curu takes up with a street-smart mutt named Charlie who shows her the value of a loyal companion.

In which Curu discovers both her mysterious background and her three younger cousins after immersing herself in The Lord of the Rings.

In which Curu meets Cadpig, a precocious Dalmatian pup with a cheery outlook on life, who teaches Curu to think positive and to speak her mind.

In which Curu, now a timid fourteen-year-old, finds a mage creature named Istari, and becomes his Apprentice in the arts of mage work.

In which Curu and Istari bond, and Curu decides he’s her mentor.

In which Curu takes care of a small, frail girl named Hikari and learns to keep house for her teacher (male mages are too absentminded to be useful sometimes!).

In which Curu’s cousins end up getting de-aged as a result of some messed up timewarp, and Curu has lots of fun looking after little ones.

In which Curu enters her last year of Apprenticeship, and makes some new friends in high school, and a certain secret Agency is established…

In which Curu meets Kurt, the HAH Story begins to run its course, and Curu learns about the origins of her power.

In which Curu, now a Journeyman, takes on an Apprentice of her own—nine-year-old Gren Doppler, son of the astrophysicist Dr. Delbert Doppler and the renowned Captain Amelia.

In which…things continue to change, grow, and solidify (hopefully!).

Her powers first awakened within her when she was nine years old. Before then, she had been a perfectly happy human child, with friends in abundance. Then her family moved to California, sending her to a private school. This wasn’t a good fit, and she changed schools again. However, this proved to be a horrible mistake. She was taunted and mocked, knocked around and betrayed. With no friends to speak of, and more enemies than she could count, the child turned to her imagination to get her through those days of torture and isolation. It was in this form that her powers first manifested themselves, allowing young Curu to talk to beings from other dimensions; in most cases, characters from her favorite books and movies. They told her that she had the inner strength to defend herself against her tormentors, power that she had not yet found. Then came the first display. The kids who tortured Curu closed in on her one day at recess, mocking and jeering, each insult damaging the fragile shield the child had erected around herself. Something was awoken inside of her, and she managed to open her first portal, which led to the Enchanted Forest, and allowed Curu to escape the not-so-nice situation. In the forest, a kind witch named Morwen took Curu under her wing for a while, and showed her the basics of healing, transportation spells, and cooking. Curu made many friends in the Enchanted Forest, but had to leave eventually. Thus began the first connections to the inhabitants of other worlds.

In fifth grade (at a different school), Curu’s powers aided her in the creation of the United Dimensions of Katelandia (KL for short). The first world to be linked by portal was Middle-earth, followed by several worlds that would otherwise have been eternally estranged by space and time. Curu was appointed “Queen” of the allied worlds; a title that she will only truly inherit when she reaches the pre-determined age of twenty-two.

At age fourteen, her powers beginning to expand into magic with an actual form and consequently, Curu became Apprenticed to a mage-creature named Istari. She dwelt with him in a digital dimension for three years, until she had learned all he could teach her, and she became a Journeyman.

And then, the HAH! Story came into being, and Curu found herself recruited by the X-Men to be part of their team, since they had need of someone with magic on their side. She found a romantic interest in one of her teammates—Kurt Wagner, AKA Nightcrawler. After going through 136+ pages of tedium, they finally managed to become a couple, and Curu’s story continues on from there as she struggles to survive in the deadly environment of…High School! Dun dun dun…

Misc. facts:

*Curu hates the taste of chocolate pudding. Randomly.

*She doesn’t like roller coasters or sailing on ships.

*She always carries a thermometer with her in her pack just in case she needs it to take someone’s temperature. This is a habit she established in third grade for a reason she can’t remember, though she finds it comes in handy when she’s traveling to other worlds where they don’t have such things. She also carries around a small copper teakettle and plenty of dried herbs.

*Her favorite song is Scarborough Fair as performed by Simon and Garfunkel.

*Her favorite colors are purple and silver.

*The Katelandian seal is a circle divided into four equal quadrants, each with a letter of her given name in it. The first is light blue, the second light green, the third light yellow, and the fourth lavender. The flag is this seal against a white background.

*Curu sometimes lives in a castle in the center of KL, though this setting rarely enters any written stories.

*Her Lord High Chamberlains are Istari, Pippin, Kari, Cadpig, and Kurt.

*Her Advisors at any given time are Istari, Dr. Doppler, Telemain, Gadget, Cadpig, Merry, Frodo, and Morwen. They rule KL in her place if ever a problem arises. Most worlds don’t have any problem governing themselves, so very few problems actually occur.

*Curu’s crest that she received in the Digital World when she met Istari is the Crest of Dreams. The insignia is a golden sun with seven spikes and a silver crescent moon carved in one side of the sun. She later on received the Crest of Oaths and the lesser Crest of Harmony. The former allows her to retrieve people she is close to from the out skirts of the Death Realms, and was used up when she brought Kurt back to life after he was shot by members of the FoH in Curu’s HAH! Story (see pg. 124). The latter Crest aids in amplifying some of her song spells.
