R.V. WHITE RUBBER ROOF KIT

How to's for DIY'ers

Every RV roof is somehow different. But I'll explain the basics.First remove trim, racks, etc.and clean the surface of an rust, loose paint, or old repair patches.Lay rubber in place, allow for excess rubber along the edges(this can be trimed with a razor knife after the trim is re-applied).Fold the sheet back in half.Glue both surfaces with theyellow glue.Allow to dry so it's tacky to the touch.Fold back and repeat the process to the other half.

When it comes to:

Seams:If you can't remove any large obstacle like air conditioners. It's sometimes better to cut the rubber and curb around one half at a time.Start with the back piece first. Then the next so the seam lip isn't facing the wind flow.Even though it gets caulked, why ask for trouble?

Curbs:When flashing around AC units and other obstacles its always best to run the rubber up the sides as far as possible.

Elastoform the corners. This is an un-cured rubber that stretchs around corners and vents.Always use the blue glue for this or rubber-to-rubber.Wait until tacky.Easiest to work with when warm.Either set in the sun,or use a hair dryer.Running a bead of EPDM caulk over the edges and seams isn't good enough."Feather" the side of the caulked section by using a match pack folded in a v shape.Keep in mind the caulk shrinks,so try to leave a thick center.

Vents are sometimes better removed and re-installed later after the rubber is layed.Other wise run the rubber and elastoform up the sides as high as possible.

Kits are available for $1.25 per.sq.ft.Included is:60mil. white rubber(other side black).Yellow glue to bond the rubber to the roof.Elastoform kit for the corners and vents. And more than enough caulking to finish the job.E-mail me with the size you need and your zip code.I'll get back with a price.
