Work will be performed at their Dallas, Texas facility and in Washington, D.C. and is expected to be completed by June 2007. HAARP is a very high power radio transmitter that beams radio waves into the ionosphere. Initial claims were that the facility, operated by the Air Force, Navy and University of Alaska are to conduct research to "enhance communications and surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes". However, HAARP is no longer used merely for research and may be an operational tool used for deep ground-penetrating radar and other purposes. Patents filed by the military and the project's founder, ARCO, suggest that HAARP can be used for weather modification and mind control. Evidence suggests that HAARP may have facilitated the massive black-outs in the US and other countries in 2003. The radio waves emitted by HAARP can be used to super-heat and lift the ionosphere or can be reflected off the atmosphere. When reflected off the atmosphere, the high frequency waves can be used as a carrier for low frequencies at the same level as the human brain. According to information on the official HAARP Website - "HAARP is used for research into communicating at frequencies useful for underwater platforms like submarines." The military currently uses ELF - extremely low frequency radio waves to communicate with its submarines. In the New York Tribune, Feb. 17, 1901, it is said that Indians of Alaska had told of an occasional appearance, as if of a city suspended in the sky, and that a prospector named Willoughby, having heard the stories, had investigated, in the year 1887, and had seen the spectacle. (14) It is said that, having several times attempted to photograph the scene, Willoughby did finally at least show an alleged photograph of an aerial city. In Alaska, p. 140, Miner Bruce say that Willoughby, one of the early pioneers in Alaska, after whom Willoughby Island is named, had told him of the phenomenon, and that, early in 1889, he had accompanied Willoughby to the place over which the mirage was said to repeat. (15) It seems that he saw nothing himself, but he quotes a member of the Duc d'Abruzzi's expedition to Mt. St. [200/201] Elias, summer of 1897, Mr. C. W. Thornton, of Seattle, who saw the spectacle, and wrote -- "It required no effort of the imagination to liken it to a city, but was so distinct that it required, instead, faith to believe that it was not in reality a city." Bruce publishes a reproduction of Willoughby's photograph, and says that the city was identified as Bristol, England. So definite, or so un-mirage-like, is this reproduction, trees and many buildings shown in detail, that one supposes that the original was a photograph of a good-sized terrestrial city, perhaps Bristol, England. In Chapter 10, of his book, Wonders of Alaska, Alexander Badlam tries to explain. He publishes a reproduction of Willoughby's photograph: it is the same as Bruce's, except that all buildings are transposed, or are negative in positions. (16) Badlam does not like to accuse Willoughby of fraud: his idea is that some unknown humorist had sold Willoughby a dry plate, picturing part of the city of Bristol. My own idea is that something of this kind did occur, and that this photograph, greatly involved in accounts of repeating mirages, had nothing to do with mirages. Badlam then tells of another photograph. He tells that two men, near the Muir Glacier, had, by means of a pan of quicksilver, seen a reflection of an unknown city somewhere, and that their idea was that it was at the bottom of the sea near the glacier, reflecting in the sky, and reflecting back to and from the quicksilver. That's complicated. A photographer named Taber then announced that he had photographed this scene, as reflected in a pan of quicksilver. (17) Badlam publishes a reproduction of Taber's photograph, or alleged photograph. This time, for anybody who prefers to think that there is, somewhere in the sky of Alaska, a great, unknown city, we have a most agreeable photograph: exotic-looking city; a structure like a coliseum, and another prominent building like a mosque, and many indefinite, mirage-like buildings. I'd like to think this photograph genuine, myself, but I do conceive that Taber could have taken it photographing a panorama that he had painted. Badlam's explanation is that mirages of glaciers are common, in Alaska, and that they look architectural. Some years ago, I read five or six hundred pounds of literature upon the Arctic, and I should say that far-projected mirages are not common in the Arctic: mere [201/202] looming is common. Badlam publishes a photograph of a mirage of Muir Glacier. The looming points of ice do look Gothic, but they are obviously only loomings, extending only short distances from primaries, with no detachments from primaries, and not reflecting in the sky. For the first identification of the Willoughby photograph as a photograph of part of the city of Bristol, see the New York Times, Oct. 20, 1889.(18) That this photograph was somebody's hoax seem to be acceptable. But it is not similar to the frequently reported scene in the sky of Alaska, according to descriptions. In the New York Times, Oct. 31, 1889, is an account, by Mr. L.B. French, of Chicago, of the spectral representation, as he saw it, near Mt. Fairweather.(19) "We could see plainly houses, well-defined streets, and trees. Here and there rose tall spires over huge buildings, which appeared to be ancient mosques or cathedrals.... It did not look like a modern city -- more like an ancient European City."(20) Jour. Roy. Soc., 27-158:(21) That, every year, between June 21 and July 10, a "phantom city" appears in the sky, over a glacier in Alaska; that features of it had been recognized as buildings in the city of Bristol, England, so that the "mirage" was supposed to be a mirage of Bristol. It is said that for generations these repeating representations had been known to the Alaskan Indians, and that, in May 1901, a scientific expedition from San Francisco would investigate. It is about Sannikov Land, which is a land mass in the Arctic which also seems to have been an over-the-horizon mirage/reflection, over-the- horizon from the Earth's interior, from some land mass perhaps near the neck of the opening: The Russians have often led the way in polar research. I first heard about Sannikov Land from Michael, who is a Russian correspondent on my Internet list. He supplied much of the information below, and also kindly translated some of it from Russian for me. The St Peterburg's Academy of Science organized a research expedition in 1808 1810 which was headed by Matvey Hedenstrom. They set off for the Novosibirsky Islands which are situated between the Laptev Sea and the East Siberian Sea. Jakov Sannikov was one of the members of this expedition. In 1811 he claimed that he had seen a vast land to the north or north west of Kotelny Island which is a part of Novosibirsky Islands. This vast land which he reported was named Sannikov Land in honor of him. In the years which followed the Sankt Peterburg's Academy of Science arranged for other expeditions to go to the Novosibirsky Islands and North of Yakutia. E. Moll took part in these expeditions and he claimed to have seen Sannikov Land twice: once in 1886 and again in 1893. Sannikov Land was marked on maps. No one had visited it yet, although it had been seen on the horizon on the three occasions mentioned above. Nansen, the polar explorer, visited Russia in 1898. On 30th April of that year he had a meeting with Russian scientists in the Hall of the Russian Geographical Society. He discussed the problems of arctic exploration with them for many hours. He also discussed the possibility of finding new islands and lands, among them Sannikov Land. Nansen firmly believed Sannikov Land existed. He hoped to find it when he drifted across the arctic in his ship the "Fram. " Nansen's plan to drift across the Arctic basin in the "Fram" is unquestionably one of the most brilliant, daring, and successful arctic expeditions ever undertaken. Even so, Nansen never did find Sannikov Land. Incidentally, it was on his return home from this expedition that Nansen approached Franz Josef Land. It was during these wanderings that he discovered the errors in Weyprect and Payer's map of Franz Josef Land. The Russians were absolutely convinced Sannikov Land was real, and they later mounted new expeditions to find it. Michael kindly sent me this translation from the Big Soviet Encyclopedia which states: "In spite of an intensified search in the first half of the 20th century, the so called Sannikov Land hasn't been found. In the opinion of some explorers, this land has been destroyed by the ocean as has happened to many other islands made mainly of fossil ice" (emphasis added). So what had Sannikov and Moll then seen? Had they really only seen an iceisland? It had been seen on three occasions in a period of 82 years. It is hard to believe that the Russians, who are an Arctic people, would be so easily fooled by mirages or strange lighting. To the best of my knowledge, Sannikov Land was seen lying low on the horizon. Maybe they really had made a mistake regarding Hollow Planets Sannikov Land. Perhaps some kind of ice island had indeed been mistaken for land. Sannikov Land has since been removed from maps. It is very important to distinguish between one time sightings by inexperienced explorers and genuine mystery lands. Many "islands" have been seen low on the horizon and marked on maps only never to be found again. The vast Franz Josef Land archipelago turned out to be nothing of the kind. I am however going to ignore all these "once off' sightings because they were never independently confirmed in any way whatsoever. Sannikov Land therefore remains something of a mystery because it was seen on at least three occasions and was marked on maps. Scientists took it seriously enough for extensive searches to be conducted in search of it. Sannikov Land might, or might not be related to a larger mystery. There is, however, one possibility which I would venture to propose. What if the Russian expeditions earlier this century did indeed find something but kept it under wraps? Although this is mere speculation, it is a possibility which cannot be excluded. My thoughts regarding Sannikov Land therefore remain inconclusive. __________________________________ THOUGHTS ON OUR ONGOING POLAR WATCH People, We can consider the dirigible flight of Roald Amudsen in May of 1926. Amudsen passed over the pole and then steered a course along 170* longitude West towards the Bering Straits between Alaska and Siberia. He experienced a couple of the usual polar anomalies the farther North he went: Warming of the air and sea temperatures was one of them, and the presence of land birds too far away from any land, but what is interesting to our current analysis is the fact that when the Amudsen dirigible reached the Bering Straits it ended up over 100 miles off course on the Russian side. This suggests that the dirigible dipped into and followed along the bowl-like depression, and that the irregular curvature threw it off course and sent it into Siberia on a slight tangent. All of the above evidence suggests a polar opening, on the Siberian side of the Pole, within a ring established by the different polar explorers. The Amudsen dirigible flew over extended stretches of cloud cover, which leaves open the possibility of its having been rather far down the funnel of the opening, maybe even rather close to the neck of it, without the occupants realizing it. This means that the opening could stretch from the area where Nansen and the crew of the Fram experienced their polar anomalies, which was on the Siberian side, across the Polar basin to the Canadian side, as far as 170* of longitude. This was actually inadvertently indicated by the Russian description of the magnetic pole as a line stretching 1,000 miles from above Zemlya and across the Arctic towards Elizabeth Island, where what we normally consider to be the magnetic pole lies. One Earth Reptile comments on the Doctor's mention of 'Silurian' w! ith the dismissal of 'your human terms are unknown and irrelevant', an indication that they do not know of that word. It could be argued that, as the Earth Reptiles in The Scales of Injustice are from Shelter 429, a Shelter that was effectively in quarantine for twelve years before the Great Hibernation, they may not be aware of new developments elsewhere. It may be that the Earth Reptiles decided to call themselves 'Silurians' just before the Hibernation, but leaving a trace of this name in the Race Memory of their kind in the Apes they use for sport, and this may re-emerge when humanity begins the study of Geology. Their limbs consist of long-boned hands, three ribbed and curved toes linked by supple webbing, and all musculature is adapted to hunting long elastic tendons anchoring the muscles to the hollow bones, giving the impression of size whilst allowing them to move quickly. They have a third (secondary) eye, which sits at the crown of the skull in a smooth fluting of the bone structure around which the scaly flesh is tightly wrapped. Nostrils are forward facing and ears are projected laterally from the skull, and are the most sensitive; evolution has positioned small holes in the veined pinna to determine the difference and direction of a sound as accurately as if it came from behind or in front. Communication is by way of using speech and body language, a way to describe complex functions elegantly, and handle multiple conversations succinctly. Silurians have extensive natural psi! power, including the almost unconscious ability to 'link' with dinosaurs as a method of control as well as with others of their kind for communication. In addition, they have strong telekinetic power, which they will use to build their cities (Blood Heat, events mentioned on p.33-34, p.44, p.60, p.108, p.279, p.289. The Silurians are known as 'Cold-Bloods' to Jo, on p.38. In The Scales of Injustice, the Silurians are evolutionarily 'far superior to [humans]' on p.243. In Bloodtide, the Silurians' mind control is also mentioned on Disc 2, Track 9). The Silurians worship their lizard god (The Crystal Bucephalus, events mentioned on p.81) Urmungstandra (The Taking of Planet 5, the 'devil-god of the Silurians' is named on p.46. In Twilight of the Gods (NA) (NA), a god named 'Urgmundasatra' is mentioned on p.19. If they both refer to the same god, then the name used by the Celestis in former story is most likely to be the correct one, as they have the opportunity to hear it firs! t-hand. The Ferutu however, will have learnt the name from Earth Reptiles in the twenty-sixth century, potentially in a corrupted form). The Sea Devils will instead worship the Great Old One Dagon (All-Consuming Fire, events mentioned on p.221. In The Quantum Archangel, the 'Earth Reptiles' still rule Earth at the time of the excavation of the Midnight Cathedral on what will be Earth's moon, 'a hundred and fifty million years' [before 2003], on p.117. In The Scales of Injustice, the Earth Reptiles existed 'at the time of the dinosaurs' [225-65 million BC] on p.121, and are 'much, much older than humans' on p.121, and 'much older than we previously imagined' 'according to your records', on p.144. In Autumn Mist, humanity is established to be 'six' million years old [by 1945] on p.158). Also by this time the super-continent of Pangaea has broken up. The Earth Reptiles who live on it, however, will still portray this continent on their maps. This practice will continue even whe! n the continents have broken up (The Scales of Injustice, the map shown to Liz Shaw showing the locations of the Shelters on 'Earth as it had been millions of years ago' features 'one large land mass' on p.222. According to current geological theory, the Earth was one landmass, Pangaea, between 225 and 195 million years ago, during the Triassic Period. During the Cretaceous Period the continent had split into two, Laurasia and Gondwanaland. By about 20 million years ago, the Earth would have looked much as it does today, and in Earthshock, it looks this way 65 million years ago, at the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary, in Part Four. Since the Earth Reptiles have 'first hand' information on the state of the Earth, I thus assume that they inhabited the Earth before this time. In The Sword of Forever, 'Pangaia' [sic] is [incorrectly] dated as '80 Million BC' on p.81, p.91, p.108, p.120, p.131, p.138, p.145, p.154, p.258). (CW) c 97.5 Million BC - The Cretacious geological era begins on Earth. During this period, dinosaurs such as Ornithomimus, an ostrich-like theropod dinosaur existing on a diet of insects and fruit, Tyrannosaurus Rex, will evolve. Specimens of this dinosaur will be preserved by the Earth Reptiles in their shelters prior to their extinction during the next thirty million years (Blood Heat, Ornithomimus is from the 'cretaceous' era, on p.21. The existence of the Ornithomimus from 97.5 Million BC to 66.4 Million BC is a matter of current paleontological theory). Many of these are from a time long before the K/T Impact, and, as Gary Russell speculates in The Scales of Injustice on p.5, it seems likely that the Silurians existed before the K/T impact and survived it. The Earth, at this point, resembles the Earth of twenty million years' time, though the Earth Reptiles continue to use maps of Pangaea (Earthshock, the image on the screen of the Cyberman freighter shows the Earth [in 65 million BC] much as it looks today. In Bloodtide, the Silurians' 'vast cities' are mentioned on Disc 1, Track 10), with the Hall of Heroes, a building that could be considered Earth's greatest architectural achievement, even above the Sistine Chapel, at the center of their world. Their technology, equivalent to that of humanity's by the time of the twenty-fifth century (The Scales of Injustice, events mentioned on p.143. Their technology will be matched by humanity in 'three or four hundred years' [after u1970], on p.93) is based on advanced breakthroughs in many areas of science. Sonic and psionic technologies are used to operate machiner! y, the former in complex calling and status signals, the latter involving the use of the third eye. For transport they have vast airships, with perches for pterosaurs, which are ridden by Silurians in patrols, as well as deep-sea craft. In the place of machinery, dinosaurs are used for jobs such as excavation and transporting loads too heavy or cumbersome for the city mind-builders to move. Silurian culture has no real literature - ideas are communicated directly by telepathy (Blood Heat, events mentioned on p.143, p.154, p.167, p.269, p.279), but it does have music, played on instruments such as the hag'jat (Original Sin, events mentioned on p.37). So as not to use up the planet's resources, they mostly synthesize their food. As well as working on spacecraft at this time, the Earth Reptiles have developed the hologram, advanced genetics, particle disseminators for breaking down DNA. One major discovery is a kind of semi-organic webbed twine that stanches bleeding and is cap! able of carrying a form of antiseptic, antibiotics, heat or light in its strands. They have also discovered the power of nuclear fission. Realising its potential for destruction, they wisely choose not to develop it further (The Scales of Injustice, events mentioned on p.111, p.198, p.121, p.123, p.142, p.166, p.214, p.222) though hydrogen fusion reactors are used as power sources (Bloodtide, events mentioned on Disc 2, Track 11). In politics, the Triad, consisting Ichthar; Scibus, his Second; and Tarpok, the Scientific Advisor rule the Silurians of this time. Their laws, including the punishment by death of those of different sub-species, or castes, who mate, are based on the principle of pure eugenics (The Scales of Injustice, events mentioned on p.90-91, p.145, p.162). Their most sacred tenets are that life exists as Nature's servant, and that genetic modification is an abomination (Bloodtide, events mentioned on Disc 2, Track 9). (CW/MG) c 20 Million BC - By this time, the Australopithecus, erect, tool-using near humans, have emerged on Earth (Bloodtide, 'Australopithecus apes' are established as being the Silurians' contemporaries, on Disc 1, Track 11. Note: see below), creatures with a basic instinctive and empathic telepathy that will still be present in their descendants. They are locked in cages (The Scales of Injustice, events mentioned on p.26, p.72), tortured and killed for sport and children's games, repressing any intelligence that manages to spark in their minds (Eternity Weeps, events mentioned on p.171). The Silurians treat these creatures as cattle, to the point of eating them as food. They hunt them with Myrka, creatures that live in the icy depths of the ocean, and can deliver massive electrical discharges into victims. Sonic implants are used to guide them, but implanting them in the apes themselves is forbidden as it is deemed excessively cruel (Bloodtide, events mentioned on Disc 2, Tracks! 1-2, 5). Some apes, caught while scavenging the Earth Reptiles' crops, are released back into the pack infected by the Earth Reptiles' bio-engineered plague (Doctor Who and the Silurians novelisation) developed by famous scientist Bokka K'to (The Scales of Injustice, events mentioned on p.92). This plague causes a surge in strength that burns up the body's resources; with some, death follows almost immediately with great pain. With others, the afflicted can wander mindlessly for great distances, infecting others with the disease (Doctor Who and the Silurians novelisation, events mentioned on p.121).
