my Master's Hand
the thunder claps, the lightning races across the night skies in brillant colors. my Master takes my hand in His and softly says, "Come little one. follow your Master into the night." i take His hand and i cringe at the sound of the thunder, the brightness of the lightning and i say to Him, "i am afraid my Master." He smiles as He lightly caresses my face and says, "Do not be My pet. It will not harm you." as the lightning flashes i see a spiral staircase, leading right up to the sky. it is so long i cannot see the end. i start to speak and Master lays His finger across my lips, quieting me. He leads me to the bottom of the stairway and i watch as He slowly waves His hand through the air. before U/us stands a mighty cole black pegasus, his wings flapping quietly in the night. i look at Master in wonderment and He smiles, His eyes dancing in the light of the storm. He lifts me to the stallion and then He too joins me. i hold on to Master as W/we fly up the long staircase. i hide my face in the protection of His back, not wanting to look at the storm. W/we reach the top of the staircase and Master lowers me to the ground and then He climbs down and again takes my hand in His. i hide my face in His chest, shivering from the fear of the storm and the rain. Master holds me close as He says, " Little one, look upon the storm. Do not be afraid, I am here, I won't leave you." i look up into the face of the man i love and trust, He smiles as i turn to gaze upon the storm. i look up, the rain gently hitting me in the face and at that moment i am at peace. i lean back against my Master as His arms encircle me and He says, " There are times pet, when W/we must face our fears, time when our fears speak to us. If we listen closely we can hear them. They tell us that what we fear is only an emotion that lives within us, that within this thing we fear, there is an inner beauty, something we can find peace and tranquillity in. listen pet, you will hear." i stood there listening to my Master's soothing words and the sounds of the storm. it was then that i realized that the storm i feared so much wasn't really what i feared at all. what i did fear was the unknown. before me i saw the most amazing light i had ever seen, the echoing
sounds of the thunder as it spoke to me...saying...'it is not i you fear, i bring the gentle rains, cleansing the earth and all living things upon it. the bird does not fear my rage, it sits quietly, taking in the beauty as the skies open up and sing.' my Master led me deeper into the storm and i felt no fear, my hand in His, as W/we disappeared into the night.
