*WARNING!* The picture shown above of me doing a kickflip does not show good form. As you can see, my front foot is too low, and I'm not centered over the board very well. It's hard to take a picture of yourself with a self-timing camera doing a trick! The new school kickflip, shown here, was invented by Rodney Mullen back in the 80's. As you probably know, it involves popping the tail, dragging your foot off the corner of the board, causing it to flip, and landing back on the griptape side. Here's how it goes: 1) Put your back foot on the tail, and your front foot at about the middle of the board, with the heel slightly turned toward you. 2) Start the trick by popping the tail pretty hard, then immediatly dragging your foot up the board, like an ollie, and off the heel-corner of the nose. 3) STAY CENTERED OVER THE MIDDLE OF THE BOARD, THIS IS VITAL TO LANDING IT. 4) Wait until you see the griptape, then catch the board with your feet. 5) Land with your knees bent. This may seem impossible at first, but just keep trying and you'll get it. Also try putting your front foot in different positions, because my stance may be different from yours. Good luck!
