Karz is one of the most highly ranked juniors in the Martial Arts Special Games tournament. Don't get the wrong ides; this tournament is not for handicapped persons. Instead, it is for those martial artists who have surpassed the level of black belt, and whose power is almost god-like in comparison.

Karz has a little brother, Traun, whom he tries to train up to his high level. But Traun, being a Fire Elemental, has not yet learned how to switch elementals and uses his powers erradically and is unable to control its usage. But someday, Karz has vowed, his little brother will be on a level equal to or higher than himself. He owed at least that much to his parents, who died in a tournment while Karz was only six, only thirteen years ago.

Like all high-level competitors, Karz has a createon Companion who helps him in his fights. Kama is a large dragon, whose immense power boosts Karz's, and can also compete in separate tournaments.
