Edward asked calmly, his eyes as cool as a winters sky. "I always told you it would come down to this someday, me vs. you who's better?" Anita lauged bitterly, "I thought after New Mexico we had moved past this shit Edward. We had each other's back's with no questions, it was just kill everyone but the kids and are back-ups." Letting her hands hang loose at her side, Anita made no move to pull the browning from it's shoulder holster, or the firestar from it's inner pants holster. Edwards smiled coldly, "I thought you understood Anita I really did. Death has no friends merely allies he hasn't yet taken the time to kill." Life bleeding back into his eyes Edward continued, "If I never took my shot against you I'd always wonder who was better, now I just want to know." Suddenly three things happended at once, a large black werewolf burst through the door and lunged at Edward, Edward drew a large black Glock from a shoulder rig, and Anita went for the knife on her back. Drawing quickly Edward dispatched the wolf with one shot to the chest, and turned back to face Anita. As Edward turned Anita drew the long knife from her back and used the momentum of drawing the blade to swing it forward. Turning at the last minute the flat of the knife blade struck Edward's gun hand, as the Glock fell he reached behind his back presumably for a weapon. Anita spun the blade in a smooth arc and set the tip against Edwards throat, "Blink and black will be the last thing you see Edward. I've had enough of these bullshit dominance games between you and me Edward, I'm the Executioner and your Death you've got me beat O.K." "If I were better Anita you and the were-wolf would both be dead, and would have before I walked in.?" Edward sighed "I must be losing my touch, I never should have let you get the drop on me in the first place." Holding the knife steady Anita let go of her emotions and focused only on the man she once thought of as a friend infront of her. "Tell me the truth Edward, why did you decide tonight was the night to try this? Also why the hell would you even think about attacking me in the Circus Of The Damned? You know Jean-Cluade lives here and I'm bound to be protected here." "Take the knife away and I'll tell you whatever you want to know Anita." Raising his hands above his head Edward grinned, "And I was preprared for your protection, the first two rounds were standard lead the rest are my home-brew." Letting her eyes flick the werewolf, now changed back to human form Anita saw that he had begun to heal his body pushing the bullet out onto the floor. "Damian come to my call!" Anita said loudly and the green eyed-red haired vampire stepped into the room on silent feet. "Search and disarm Edward for me Damian, then deliver him unharmed to the meeting room. Nathaniel are you out in the hall as well?" "I'm right here Anita, what do you want me to do?" Nathanial said entering the room, his long hair tied into a loose pony-tail, his lilac eyes focused on Anita only. "I want you to take the Firestar and keep it aimed at a killing zone on Edward." Resheathing the large knife, as Nathaniel drew the Firestar she touched him lightly on the cheek. "I've taken you to the range with me Nathaniel, I know you will not fail me in this my beautiful pomme da sang." Switching off the saftey and chambering a round Nahaniel rubbed his face into Anita's hand. "I will not fail you in this Anita, you'll see how good I can be." Taking aim with a standard two-handed grip the gun never wavered from Edwards face. Walking out of the room Anita opened the marks and called out to Jean-Claude and Richard with a message to meet her in the meeting room. Quickly she went over the details of what had happend, Jean-Cluade his face unreadable asked what would come next and Richard asked what one of his wolves had been shot. "Damian is bringing Edward here so I can question him about a few things. And it was Jason who was shot, it wasn't a kill shot though Edward had the clip loaded with two rounds of lead shot in case of outside Lychanthrope or Vampire help on my part." The door opening presented them with Damian holding Edward, stripped down to his boxer shorts, and Nathaniel with the Firestar held in his right hand and a large bag held in the other. "Damian sit Edward down for me and make sure he doesn't move. Nathaniel what's in the bag?" Setting the bag down Nathaniel flicked the saftey on the Firestar and handed it back to Anita, "I thought you might want to go trough his weapons. Did I do wrong Anita?" His lilac eyes now showing worry. "You did nothing wrong at all Nathaniel had I been thinking of it I would have asked you to bring me these things." Opening the bag Anita quickly set aside the clothes and started going over the weapons. The Glock from the shoulder holster was there, as well as a Seecamps .32 and a small .22 caliber derringer. A 6 inch switchblade, two hunting knives, a tactical folding knife, a pen with a small blade in place of the ink cartridge, a Zippo style lighter, a garrotte, and a can of hairspray also came out of the bag. Removeing the outer caseing from the hairspray Anita recognized the device, an incendiary gernade most likely loaded with white phoshperus. "You always did know how to pack Edward." Anita laughed softly. "What did you want to ask me Anita?" Edward questioned her cooly, as if he were not in his underpants and a thousand year old Vampire was holding him in place. "After all these years and the number of times we have backed each other up why choose now to test who's the best?" Anita asked keeping her voice calm. "You always have a reason Edward, so what's your reason for this here and now?" Coughing slightly Jean-Claude spoke before Edward could. "He has been infected Ma Petite, he is no longer Death killer of the monsters Edward has become one of the monsters. He is now a were-wolf and I believe he came to you to give him an easy death." Nodding Richard followed Jean-Claude's lead, "He's right Anita, Edward is a lycanthrope and he has passed his first full-moon." Drawing her browning Anita held it loose at her side, "If this is true Edward your probably the strongest shifter I've ever seen because I can't feel any power leaking from you. Did you come to for a good honest death Edward?" Hanging his head slightly he nodded, "I took a bounty on a rouge wolf and before I could kill him he cut me up a bit, come the last full moon I changed. So yes Anita I want the death you promised you would give me when the day came." Flicking off the saftey on the Browning she looked down at Edward, "I'm sorry Edward but I can't commit cold-blooded murder like that, it would be the last step into a world I don't want to take." Grinning Edward raised his hand, now half shifted to a wolf's claw, "Then maybe I'll take you with me Anita." Jumping out of Damians grip he lunged at Anita clawed hands extended. Seeing the clawed hand coming at her instict took over and Anita fired point-blank into Edwards face, the large caliber bullet exiting the back of his skull in a spray of blood, bone and thicker things. Collapsing on the table it broke under his weight dropping him on the floor. Picking up his shirt Anita handed it to Damian, "To clean yourself up with Damian. Nathaniel can you hand me that bag that held the weapons please." Taking the bag she also picked up one of Edward's larger knives and cut a hole in his chest. "I'm sorry for the mess Jean-Claude but a promise is a promise." Reaching into the hole she cut the surrounding tissue away from his heart and pulled it out, dropping it into the bag she crawled to what was left of Edwards head. "Damian could you please hold the head up for me?" Doing as he was asked Damian held the head up with out question. "You were my back-up many times Edward, and through it all I considerd you a friend. Jean-Claude could I use one of your swords from the wall please? It will make the job much easier." She said her voice calm and collected. Suddenly Richard spoke his voice thick with emotion, "Anita how can you do this so calmly, he was your friend and now your chopping him up." Taking the sword from Jean-Claude she met Richards deep brown eyes with her nearly black, "A promise made is a promise kept Richard. Edward and I once promised that when one of us died we would take the heart and head, so no one can bring them back in any capacity." Moving quickly she whipped the blade through Edwards throat and cut the head clean off. "Just drop it in the bag Damian." Anita said motioning towards the head. "Jean-Claude can you see that all of Edwards weapons are brought to my rooms please, I'll be disposing of this in the incinerator." Taking the bag from Damian she started to leave. "Ma Petite if I may, Nickolas my former master was very organized and thoughtfull, there is a crematorium in the basement that you can make use of if you wish." Jean-Claude said calmy picking up the sword. Leaving the room Anita called over her shoulder, "thank you for your practicality Jean-Claude." |
