Chuck’s Little Run

Note: Shuck has a lisp like the Water-Boy.

INT. HALLWAY OF LHS – MORNING

ANGLE ON. A line of lockers, main character (Chuck) runs up and tries to open a locker, but can’t remember the combo. 2-3 tries

Chuck finally gets the combo right and opens the loker.

CLOSE-UP. Interior of locker – Animal Rights Activists Org. Poster, “Make Love not War” Poster, Stuffed bunny.

Chuck
OK, I’ve got foods first period, child-development second period, and then I’m volunteering for a day-care center on my last off periods.

ANGLE ON. Locker and Chuck. He closes the locker with tender loving care.

When he tries to walk away, his sleeve gets caught in the door of the locker. He stops to open the locker, again he has an inability to open the locker.

Chuck
OH, Darn!

(O.S.) Hear a phone ringing.

ANGLE ON. Chucks pocket…Chuck stops and answers the phone in his pocket.

Chuck
Hola, Buenos Dias!

Mumbles speaking from the other side of the phone. Chuck listens and his face slowly changes from happy, to scared and anxious. He nods and listens.

Chuck
Only two minutes?

Undistinguishable yelling from the other end of the phone. Chuck hangs up and tries to run down the hallway, but his coat is still stuck in the locker.

ANGLE ON. Opposite direction of the hallway…Chuck running down the hallway without his coat.

ANGLE ON. Chuck’s locker with his coat still in it, without chuck attached to it.

INT. FURTHER DOWN THE HALLWAY

Chuck keeps running down the hallway. A door opens from a classroom. Chuck runs into the door and falls down.

Chuck
Oh darn!

Innocent Student from the Classroom
Are you OK man?

Chuck
I’m…I’m OK!

Chuck gets himself up and keeps running down the hallway.
The student shrugs at the camera and goes back into the room, not out into the hallway.

INT. LANG ARTS/MATH HALLWYA

Chuck runs into a group of short freshmen in a circle around to two fighting boys. Chuck stops in his tracks and tries to get through the group.

Chuck
Pardon…Pardon…Excuse Me…I need to get through please.

He finally gets through by jumping out of the crowd onto the open ground. He starts to run down the hallway again.

MONTAGE. Of shots of Chuck’s face as he runs switched with shots of some kid and a jar of marbles (he has a big smile n his face).

Chuck reaches the end of the hallway and opens the closed double doors.

POV. (Chuck) the doors opening and then cartoon elephants stampeding down the hallway…hands closing the doors again.

ANGLE ON. Chucks confused face…he turns and starts running down the hallway again.

INT. MATH HALLWAY

ANGLE ON. Chuck again running down the hallway.

INT. BUISSNESS HALLWAY

Some kid tripping and dropping all of his marbles.

INT. MATH HALLWAY

ANGLE ON. Chuck seeing the kid who lost the fight. He looks as if he is unconscious. Chuck looks further down the hallway and back at the kid and back again. He finally decides to help the kid.

Chuck (knelling down)
Are you OK?

Beaten Kid
Yeah, I’m fine!

The kid sits-up and rubs his eyes as if he were sleeping. He gets up and goes upstairs.

Chuck watches him go upstairs and stairs after him for a few seconds. Chuck then gets up and starts to run again.
