"Pure"

This turned into a "Black Annie" song later on. I love this poem and song. It is powerful and peaceful. I wrote it for a poetry requirement for English class my Sophomore year of High School. Leah Armontrout(sp?), Tim Squires and other people I forget now were in that class with me. We put on a mock trial once: Tim was the prosecuting attorney and I was the defender. The defense won. I had a crush on Tim. Then again, who didn't?!?! Anyway, off the topic. Enjoy this little gem! And, no, I did NOT write it about Tim.

Innocent and childish.
Pure sunlight and joy.
Smells of the green grass in spring.
He can be a shining star or a rock
at the pool's end.
When I leave him the taste of peppermint
it fills my head.
For he is refreshing to talk to.
But when I am angry, he breaks it
and makes me happy again.
